students who live more than 3 hours away and are home on break are going to shrink their break by 3 days to watch a football game. There will never be an amazing student section during a major break game
This is just a fact. Students, more than any other group, has many members who will buy tickets and go to games fot the social experience / because everyone else is doing it. Those individuals won't think twice about skipping a game over break, and they make up a decent-sized chunk of our student section.
As a student who cut my break short by three days and hit the road early this morning to wait in line and watch the game from the front row, I thought the overall turnout was bad, but I think most of the blame lies with Pollard and the Ath. Department for not finding a way to fill those seats.
Woody fumbled inside the redzone...not the students. But I bet his dad will come on here soon enough telling us why Woody should get more playing time. Woody is a great Cyclone...but that's his 2nd or 3rd red zone fumble this year.

Offer a student package that excludes the break game maybe? Have the option to buy or cut that game from the season tickets might work, then the AD at least wouldn't have the excuse of not wanting to "oversell" badly.
And this will be the story in most stadiums this weekend. A good portion of students won't be there and I'm not sure why anyone is shocked or really expects it to be packed.

where was the other 1? Do not remember any other fumbles bye woody minus the nebraska game

That seems reasonable. Don't the MBB student tickets not include break games? The AD could offer a cheap add-on ticket to students if they want to go to a break game to encourage students to show up.

If I was AD, that's what I'd do. Students get those seats at a significant discount to their potential value to the general public. I would leave the Thanksgiving weekend game off the student ticket package and sell it to them up until the week before the game for a discount (like $15) if they had a student ID. However many were left, $30, bring your kids, have a great time, go Cyclones.

I don't get this at all. For the record, not complaining about game attendance, but the logic above: Stated as 'going home for break'. Classes are out no matter what, so break is the same length regardless of where you are. So it's better to be at your parent's place than your own in Ames? Either you haven't made enough friends in Ames, or it's time to...uhh I'm going to stop there, but those of you in the cattle industry understand the concept of weaning a calf.
Maybe I'm missing something, please explain, but I loved breaks in Ames. Less crowds, no class, usually got some extra hours at work and upped the bank account. Admittedly, my parents didn't pay for my school, so stupid family obligations were easily blown off with...sorry, gotta work, $'s getting low, mom.
I am completely shocked by that. I believed until the end that he would do something. That's how he rolls. But something never came. That's very strange to me.
JP must be outta gas.

A school of 50,000 students that all live within 20 miles of their dorms and they can't make it to Ames on their last Friday night of the only fall break they've had since August?!?!? Those ungrateful little ****ers! Seriously though, lighten the **** up on the students and put the blame on whoever planned Senior Day during a break. The student body doesn't live within easy driving distance to get in and out for a day. And if I'd been at school since August I'd sure as hell take all the time away that I could while it was afforded me.
Plus we only have like 30,000 students. So there's that.

I love Ames but holy ****...Thanksgiving for most isn't just about mom and dad. I'm lucky enough to have a family who works with me to get a schedule that works for everyone but it's because of limited traveling distance and my flexibility that we can do so. Not everyone has that luxury.

Free food at home, friends you have not seen since July or August, jobs at home. There are many reasons to not come back early.

Your parents must be VERY proud of you. Hopefully they covered that "weaning" thing in their estate planning!
