After this season, I have a feeling Oklahoma and Texas are going to be swinging hard to expand and maybe even re-create the north/south.

See my posts above -- 2 SEC + 2 Pac + ND + a mid major Auto leaves 1 each for Big East ACC Big 12 and Big 10 for the 10 slots.

Re: Who ISU needs to root for this weekend
Some non-Big XII bowls where ISU could possibly go:
1. Music Bowl @ Nashville, TN taking ACC #6 selection
2. Beef O'Brady Bowl @ St. Petersburg, FL taking Big East #6 selection
3. BVAA Bowl @ Birmingham, AL taking Big East #5 selection
4. Independence Bowl @ Shreveport, LA taking ACC #7 selection
5. Military Bowl @ Washington DC taking ACC #8 selection
6. Liberty Bowl @ Memphis, TN taking SEC #8 or #9 selection
SEC currently has 8 teams bowl eligible with 2 teams in the BCS.
ACC currently has 6 teams bowl eligible with 1, maybe 2 teams in the BCS.
Big East currently has 4 teams bowl eligible with 1 BCS team. (2 teams are sitting at 5-6)
Do you know why I put up with this 'pitiful job', Mr. Donaghy, why I fetch these folks' lunches and clean up their barfs? Cause they make television. And more then jazz, or musical theater, or morbid obesity, television is the true American artform. -
Re: Who ISU needs to root for this weekend
Found this on Wikipedia
When Beef O'Brady's became the sponsor in 2009, the official name was changed to the St. Petersburg Bowl Presented by Beef 'O' Brady's. The bowl game features teams from the Big East Conference and Conference USA, unless one of the conferences does not have enough bowl eligible teams, in which case the MAC or Sun Belt Conference are eligible to send a team.

That 'top 16 rule' is dumb. Top 10 maybe id understand.... and it shouldnt be a separate rule for ND, just include them in that group.

Michigan is only one spot above Boise in the Harris poll, they are dropping. Only +2 in the coaches poll, doubt they are going to not fall in either voter poll, that's silly.

A close loss to a team ranked well above you shouldnt drop you.

Still a chance that maybe Oregon State won't fall far enough to get passed, but the two non-AQs will play next week and could end up getting voted in -- or out -- essentially.

Re: Who ISU needs to root for this weekend
Time to start hoping someone ahead of Pinstripe picks WVU and New Era thinks we will travel better than any of the Texas schools. Hard to see any of the Texas bowls picking us over them (which is dumb), so then we may be relegated to Pizza Bowl.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

With two in the BCS, I think it is pretty close to certain that we go to Heart of Dallas Bowl. Meineke Car Care will want Baylor and Pinstripe will want West Virginia.
With one in the BCS, probably more likely that we are the at-large selection from the Big 12. There are so many bowls that won't get filled, but have so many alternates listed, that it's really tough to figure out which ones might end up with Iowa State.
There are a couple of bowls that look especially possible because multiple options of theirs won't be filled:
Military Bowl in Washington, D.C.
Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA
Out of those two, you know I'd want to play in the Military Bowl. It would be against the fifth choice from C-USA, which is likely to be Rice if they beat UTEP to get to 6-6.
6-6 Iowa State vs. 6-6 Rice in the Military Bowl... what an intriguing matchup
