SI.com has their projections up now. Currently has 2 Big 12 BCS teams (Go NIU Friday night!) and Iowa State going to Dallas:

Everyone assumes baylor doesnt bring fans to bowl games, yet they've done so.

Pretty easy to get in a car and drive an hour or 2 to a game.

I will assume since there was an Independence Bowl rep there that is the "other" bowl being discussed against a La Lafayette type of team, wonder how many fans we could get to go to that one, I am thinking that wouldn't be good for our traveling reputation...

Correct. It would be pretty disappointing to go from being almost in the Holiday to being sent to Shreveport.

Phil Steele updated his projections today and has us in the Heart of Dallas Bowl vs. Purdue like most other projections I have seen. He is projecting two from the Big 12 in the BCS.

He is also projecting that Georgia Tech will be allowed to play in a bowl with a 6-7 record as he has them in the Music City Bowl.

The murkiness of the at-large bowls scare me... the potential of Shreveport is terrifying... I will certainly be an NIU fan in the MAC Championship on Friday night, and a Sooner/Wildcat fan on Saturday.

Based on what I have seen, that is my impression as well. However I have also seen that Georgia Tech plans to petition the NCAA for eligibility if they lose on Saturday, and we won't know for sure what they will do until Sunday. There appear to be people who believe it could go either way. That would be the difference on the Music City Bowl as an opening.

They have not had to travel over 3 hours for a bowl game...

Irrelevant in the eyes of TX games like the Meieneke, HOD, Alamo, or Cotton. It hurts us with the Holiday, BWW, and Pinstripe though.

If Tech has already been selected I would be very surprised if we didn't get the nod to the Meieneke. We travel well to Houston and filled 55% of reliant last time, brought 15k to Rice, and brought 45k to our NCAA tourney matchups there in 2010.

How things shake out depends on if the mid-majors can a****id their way into the BCS. If Kent or Boise can sneak into BCS#16 and outrank 1 BCS league champ OU is forced out.

Exactly. The discussion taking place was why so many people were picking ISU for the Pinstripe. I and others feel that if Baylor and ISU are the only teams left for the Pinstripe, the Pinstripe will take ISU.

Also, TCU will also get chosen over Baylor if both are left for the Meineke.

Which is the NCAA's fault for not publicly clarifying the waiver process when they released the new shortfall selection process this summer. Nobody knows for sure, and nobody can get a straight answer from the NCAA (shocker).

On a personal level I'd be pumped for a New Year's Day Dallas match-up with Minnesota, but I realize that other Cyclones' mileage may vary with that one.

The Georgia Tech situation means the ACC's spot in the Music City is still TBA.
