When I looked at Rivals team recruiting rankings they had ISU listed as a tie for the 43rd best class. That is not a bad class or even close to it especially with the recruting disadvantages that go along with it being the state of Iowa.
i like the size and athleticism of the yound DEs from this years and last years classes. i think the d-line is gonna be really good in a couple years. some of the young DBs should be good too. LB is a real question mark at this point. i like all the young OL we have. this is going to be a very good team in the future
I don't know your profession, but I am confident I know what I am talking about. Thanks for setting me straight though.
you dont know what you're talking aboot. every kid in this class redshirted because of depth, not because of lack of talent. just wait, this class will prove to be really good. pierre aka, big dawg, rogers, luke knott etc. alot of potential
It seems to me that our talent in the program is much deeper than it has been in the past. Based on this, it looks like CPR is now recruiting kids that he feels have a high ceiling in years 3, 4, and 5 of their college career. Kids that are athletic and can be developed into outstanding B12 football players. We don't have to take a chance on a kid with a questionable past or a kid that is a skilled HS player, but has less long term upside. We are not at the point where we can land a bunch of 4 or 5 star kids. Maybe that is the next step after we start stringing together some 8 or 9 win seasons.
I don't see how you could say the 2011 class (this year's RS Freshman) are underwhelming when the following all played for the clones this year:
Sam Richardson (QB)
Nick Kron (technically he's a 2010 greyshirt)
Sam Richardson (CB)
and that's just the freshman.
Here's the JUCOs:
In fact, Rivals has 24 members of that class. They all saw some time this year except:
Darian Cotton - played but not much
Tad Ecby - Played but not much
Ja'Quarius Daniels - left the team?
Teddy Lampkin - left the team to run track
Devin Lemke - hurt, I think
Quintin Pompey - set back by injury Donald Smith - no idea
For being only their second year in the program, that is looking like an AMAZING class.
He left last summer, yet another LB that bails on us.... IMO, our in-state walkon where probably ahead in the depth chart.
