We paid Chizik after up and left?
According to this article, ISU was still paying Chizik after up and left Ames for Auburn. Is this right, I didn't think it was. Gene Chizik gone, but not forgotten by Auburn’s payroll department - The Washington Post -
Re: We paid Chizik after up and left?
That's correct, but I don't know if we paid him in monthly installments (like it sounds as if Auburn plans on doing) or in one big lump sum when he bailed.

The only "Chizik" I know of died 4 years ago.
There are not many crowds or places in the country that have a better impact on the game than at Iowa State. The Cyclone fans are truly a sixth man. The place is so loud and always a fantastic crowd." - Former Kansas and current North Carolina head coach Roy Williams -
Re: We paid Chizik after up and left?
That's messed up; I realize it is guaranteed, but how did Jamie not have an exemption for taking another job ?#?@?? How is Iowa State suppose to be on the hook for that ?
The world of college coaching contracts is so out of whack.
"We are first and foremost an educational institution that values integrity, honesty and treating others with fairness and respect". -ISU President Gregory Geoffroy; circa May 2003. -
Re: We paid Chizik after up and left?
I thought that Auburn bought out Chizik's contract. Maybe it is some kind of arangement where Auburn pays ISU and then ISU pay Chizik?

I'm hoping it has to be something like this; can't see Jamie authorizing a contract where ISU is on the hook even if a coach elects to take another job.

Please read Section VI of the Agreement, Termination by Coach
Auburn paid us and we did not pay Gene anything.
Jamie Pollard is not stupid!

Re: We paid Chizik after up and left?
Chizik resigned his position which made the contract Null and Void. He took another job at Auburn and Auburn ended up paying ISU $750k to get us to release him from his contract.

Wasn't the money from Auburn the money that we used to pay assistants like Herman and Burnham?
Or, (slipping on MontyBurns hat):
Just one more time where the rest of the world, even Gene Chizik, pulled the wool over Jamie Pollard's eyes. Pollard needs to understand that this is business, and get past his starstruck fanboy thing in negotiations before he bankrupts ISU.
Also, football pants are awesome. (slipping off MontyBurns hat)

Also, football pants are awesome. (slipping off MontyBurns hat) That must have felt good slipping off the MontyBurns hat. But it is sometimes nice escaping sanity for a moment or two.
