How many starters do we lose this season?
Hoks seem to think we lose 15 starters which seems way to high.
Here are the starters we lose
Offense
Tiller - WR (Not sure he would be a starter)
Horne - WR
Chris Young - WR
Bykowski - OL
Burris - OL
Defense
Liang - DL
McDonough - DL
Klein - LB
Knott - LB
Givens - DB
Reeves - DB
That is only 11 counting Tiller who I don't consider a starter. Did I miss any? I know we lose contributors but I am only looking at starters right now.

We also lose Maggit, Jantz and Lenz, but Tiller doesn't have any starts and I don't think Horne was listed as the starter for most of the year. Ricky Howard got the TE start at the beginning of the year, but Brun is a Jr and will be back.

I think you forgot your punter and I'm sure they were counting Jantz as a starter.

The holder is though, maybe you were thinking of him... -
Re: How many starters do we lose this season?
Replace Tiller with Lenz in the starters. We may lose Maggitt, but he's a good candidate for a medical hardship waiver. You could count Jantz as a starter, but Richardson is our starter now and we have Barnett with starting experience, so I don't think its fair to say that we lost "our starting QB".
So if Maggitt gets his hardship, it's 11. I saw the posts you're referring too. We lose 11, they lose 7/8. And Iowa State gets to play at home. I just don't see how they can mark ISU down as a win next year, right now.

They're already talking about next year...
We still have a game left this year.
Obsessed.

It's a thread created by the ever intelligent herbyhawk. But there are a few other posters in there saying we lose that many.

Yeah, it is easy to think he is since he came in and performed as one of the Big 12's elite from the start. I'm really thankful that we bring back that weapon for one more year.

Re: How many starters do we lose this season?
Am I being a homer to say we should be even better next season? I know the defense takes a step back at Linebacker. George is good but Knott and Klein are both better. Secondary will probably be a wash or slight step back. I like having Washington and Watson back. Maybe Lynn or stokes can play the other side. Seemed like Stokes had improved with the extra time playing in Watson's place. DL is a big question mark. Losing Jake McDonough will hurt, but I am hearing a lot of buzz about some upcoming guys. And B jr has proven to be an excellent DL line coach.
Offensively, Our OLine has to be better in my opinion, Running backs return with a plethora of experience and depth. Sam looks like he should at least be = to our current qb situation. Wide receivers in my opinion will be a step up. Bundrage is the real deal, I think some incoming guys will step up and Jarvis, Gary & Brun will produce.
Is it crazy to think we will be better or do I need to put the cardinal and gold glasses down?

Going into the season expecting 6 or 7 wins would seem about right to me. If things come together and we catch some breaks, we may be able to take a step forward.
DT will certainly be the biggest weakness next year, we have very little coming back. Hopefully Pompey and Aka and some of the guys who didn't see the field this year are ready to step up.

Re: How many starters do we lose this season?
We will be worse in the middle of the defensive line at least to start the season. But the DEs will be better next season. We have found a way to replace Knott in the middle, so we really only have Klein to replace. As for the secondary, with Rhoads its just been plug the next man in. I mean we thought the loss of Johnson and Benton would be big, but we really have not missed them. Givens came out of nowhere and Reeves has been solid throughout. Kenneth Lynn can play and Watson is back. So to is Washington. The secondary will be strong again next season.

Yeah, Tackle has me worried as well. More seniors than I realized on that rotation. Might be dealing with a lot of Freshman/RSFreshman on the 2-3 deep.
