He should get paid based on what $ he brings to Iowa State. That all depends on his W/L totals. If he continues to fill the seats give him a raise. If a million more salary per year results in ten million in revenue it's worth it, regardless of what other schools are doing.

Agreed. I love CPR, but what has he really done to earn another raise? I know it's faux pas to speak poorly of Rhoads here, but the man has yet to win more than 7 games total or win more than 3 in conference play. Sure, I love going to bowl games, but how about winning more during the season before we anoint him the best coach in the universe.

If it is only one mill, I think its doable , but paying him the same as Kirk or others in SEC no way man we cannot afford that I would guess. We have to do better than 6-6 in order for him to get paid what Kirk does.

CPR is very close to getting a big time raise. With that said I also think there is a chance of him taking a job at a bigger program. Not likely imo, but he will listen at the least.

1.) I can believe the market demands we pay CPR- Chizik got hired at Auburn after 2-10, and CPR is much more respected than him.
2.) Not increasing his pay because we are worried about whether we can afford to fire CPR is silly. It is likely we already could not afford to fire him. That is what we gave him with last year's lengthy extension- security. Probability wise, CPR leaving brings the greater risk of the program taking a step back than CPR staying.
3.)Additionally, depending on how it is done, increasing the pay right now could position ISU to get paid more if by some chance he was to leave.


CPR will be at ISU of we want to be a BCS program.

Rhoads is a great fit for ISU. I think it is wise for us to pony up what it takes to keep him. Stability will bring improvement. We were a quarterback and one less fumble away from an 8-4 season IMO. Going 6-6, while playing the deepest conference in the nation round robin is still an achievement, though it is starting to feel mediocre.

Also, when you look at the Big 12, it's worth noting that TCU is paying Patterson a ridiculous amount of money for such a small school. I personally don't like CPR being at the bottom of the list in the conference as it belittles his achievements.

Again, stability will breed success. ISU needs someone in for the long haul, and most of us here would agree that CPR is a very good fit at ISU. If KF doesn't right the ship at EIU, we're looking at better recruiting in-state, and improved facilities will help us with recruiting Texas, CA, & FL. We're a few wins away from becoming a program with an amazing turnaround story. K-state will go stale when snyder retires, Baylor fans will lose interest without Briles, Patterson can only keep it up so long, Mac Brown is struggling, KU is a mess and WV has proved it's got a ways to go. It's a good time to be in the Big 12.
