I was looking at Oklahoma's recruiting, and apparently they have coaches recruit by position regardless of location. Must be nice to have a budget like that.
The reason most schools have coaches recruit by region is because of relationships they have established with high school coaches in that region over their career. For eaxample Shane Burnham knows the Florida area very well because of his roots hence why he is a big recruiter for us in Florida. When Bobby Elliot was here he was our lead California recruiter because he spent numerous years there coaching at San Diego.
The coaches work collaboratively (regional recruiter and position coaches) when they are deciding who to target because they want to make sure they are going after someone that the position coach feels is worthy of contributing on the field.
i hope we get campos and i hope curt maggitt tarnsfers to ISU. if his brother is able to get one more year of eligibility then that could be a huge factor. curt had a great season as a true freshman i remember, and we could use some help at LB. he would have to sit out a year as a transfer, but would be able to redshirt and then play 2 seasons. will be nice to have him sit a year and get healthy anyways. if he has followed ISU football (which i'm sure he has) then he has seen how we have developed AK47 and Knott. i know curt was really into SEC football and not really considering us too much out of high school, but i'm sure his brother has told him about our program. lets hope he decides to come to ISU!!
Don't know if anyone's said this, but i really like this guys size. Have not liked the 5'11 linebackers we've been getting. Sorry but a VAST majority of good linebackers are over 6 foot and between 6'2 and 6'4. It allows them to be more physical and see into the backfield easier. I really like this guy. Is our next middle linebacker prospect.
