Look around we are close I am not into moral victories as is much of you. The future is bright here and I am not just saying that to a Cyclone homer as I have been tough on my clones in the past. Facilities, recruiting, and fan support has gotten a ton better in four years. If you are disappointed with this season and we play in tough as hell league, just look east and ask some Hawk fans how they feel about their spiraling program in a **** conference.
The "tough schedule" talk needs to stop. Because unless I am mistaken....everyone in our conference played the same schedule. As for non conference.....the only team worth a d*** was Tulsa. Yes...the Big 12 was tough. But all that means is that we were one of the worst teams in a tough conference.
With that said......gone are the days of OU coming to Ames and their starters coming out in sweats after halftime, because the game was decided in the first 30 seconds. So that is progress. I guess ISU football is like kissing the hottest girl in class......who happens to be your sister.
You guys need to calm down. Look at the computer rankings. This is the best finish for isu in years. Rhoads Finished each year here ranked higher than the last.
you cannot be seriousQuote:
-Boykins looks no different now then he did 1.5 months ago.
Relative to how good those teams were? Absolutely. And yes, it was pretty weak.57th rated (sagarin) tulsa, 70 rated iowa, 190 rated W Ill. Yet our offense sputtered at times against W Ill even, and couldn't put any points up against Iowa.Quote:
-We struggled through a weak non-con? You have lost your mind. No game was a struggle, and it was not weak.
we can count it as another game where with a halfway decent qb we couldve won that game.Quote:
-Whatever, can we count our close loss against KSU a win?
strongly disagree. boykins has looked much better in later games. he even showed a good amount of promise in our game, but had turnover issues.Quote:
-and ISU only had two days to prep for a different QB with no game film. We could play TCU right now and we would have just as good of chance.
-Boykin still looks like a good athlete with a strong arm playing QB, much like Jantz, but with better WRs. Both quantitatively and qualitatively he has not shown improvement. Even ignoring that, the whole contention is invalid when that is the game of football. To be consistent you should be damn thrilled with the season, because losing Knott, Givens, Lenz, and Watson hurt ISU.
Have you checked out other big 12 non-con schedules? Listen to yourself, talking about sputtering at times in a blowout win against W ILL? Winning on the road against Iowa. Who the **** cares about margin of victory? Next you are going to complain about how many yards we gave up in a 3 TD win?
When this bs is on your list of negatives, either you are a moron or we had a good season. Your choice.
We didn't take a giant step forward like we all wanted, but make no mistake we did take a step forward this year.
I like the fact that we are thinking of 6-6 as a "disappointment" as a season. Shows progression of our fanbase, or at least the fanbase that posts on CF...
You can't just expect to go from 2-3 wins to 9-10 wins just like that. With ISU, we get to 9-10 win seasons by consistently getting to 6 wins and then getting some breaks from there. So far, Rhoads has shown the ability to consistently get us to around 6 wins, and hopefully with the progression and development of players we see the next step coming.
