My family and I will be there.
Got hotel, tickets and rental car...all set to go!
My wife and I are for sure making the trip. Trying to get another couple or two to make the trip as well.
I think that Cyclone Nation will be in full force.
Plan on taking 8-12 (hoping 12) people down. Will be our first bowl trip. Going to be a blast on Beale Street!! Paint it Cardinal & Gold baby!!
at least 3 of us in right now...working on a couple more...
My group could be bringing 8. Still waiting to get everything finalized.
Seven season ticker holders plus two in my group going!
Its time to paint memphis and beale street Cardinal & Gold.....
We got 4 going. If we can get another car, then we'll have 6 maybe 8 total in our group. Still looking for hotels though.
I wish Jamie would be trying to promote us with Holiday Bowl in San Diego rather than the Alamo. And if he's looking for a Big 12/SEC tie, why not look at a bowl in Florida instead of balmy Memphis?
Seems like we are aiming too low.
Playing SR should be worth an extra 1000 cybutts in seats.
IIRC the Holiday Bowl rep said that whoever lost the ISU-WVU game would slide down significantly - it was an "elimination" game.
I am sure JP had tried hard to lobby for the best bowl we can get - but after we're handed Liberty Bowl, that's his job to promote it. And a strong turnout might send a message to other bowls (including Holiday): "Hey, you should regret not picking us because you could have attracted this kind of attendance".
Iowa State fans do a marvelous job, all of the time. WBB and MBB packed houses at home; football record home crowds this season (including top November attendance); road football games; mbb/wbb conference tourneys; top-notch volleyball crowds. . . .
What a slam to the Cyclone fan base, imo, to suggest that an emotionally flat (imo) rematch with Tulsa jeopardizes our reputation if we don't show up en masse.
Sure, we'll have a good turnout in Memphis. Maybe not a superb one, though. And, if not, we fans aren't doing our job? Given the costs, the sluggish economy, and the performance of we fans so far this season? You'll blame it on us rather than a ho-hum rematch with Tulsa? What a disrespectful message to send to ISU fans.
We'll do what we can. But stop the offensive manipulation.
