Future of Liberty Bowl (Big 12 bowls in general)
Since it has been mentioned as a big reason why the Liberty Bowl wanted to bring us in, when would the Liberty Bowl be able to alter it's affiliation to officially become a Big 12/SEC match-up and what would this mean for some of our other conference tie-ins? Ideally it could mean the end of sending Big 12 teams to the Pinstripe bowl, but does anyone really know how that works?

Nearly all of the bowl contracts are for four years. The current deals (signed in 2010) run through the 2013 season.
There will be a bunch of shifts come 2014.

I sure hope the Big XII does not lose the PinStripe Bowl. Best trip ever!!!!!

If we expand we could probably use another bowl tie-in. It would be great if we could replace the Pinstripe with the Liberty ASAP, and maybe then bring in a Florida bowl against the SEC or the ACC.
According to this, there are two years left on the Liberty Bowl's contract with the CUSA. It implies that the Liberty would try to get in with the Big East, but I'm sure they would prefer the Big 12 if they have an option.

Big 12 needs to drop the Pinstripe and get a bowl in Florida, an SEC matchup would be nice. If that is not possible, Liberty Bowl would be a good replacement for Pinstripe.

Sugar Bowl in New Orleans is the only other big host city on that western SEC edge, so it just makes sense for the conferences to match up in those two games.
I don't get the big appeal of a Florida game for the Big 12, to be honest. Plenty of warm weather destinations within or closer to the Big 12 footprint.

I wouldn't be too interested in Florida bowl either.

There should be many more SEC vs. Big 12 matchups in the future unless the SEC enjoys all those New Year's Day beat downs of the Big Ten.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

From an historical perspective for those of us remembering the Big 8, the Orange Bowl was the be all, end all destination from winning the conference. Add in an SEC or ACC opponent and hundreds and hundreds of miles of beaches, the mouse, NASA, South Beach, the Keys and by far the best chance for scantily clad lasses and you have a TON of appeal

Do Florida recruits really care if we are in a Florida bowl? Don't they just watch on TV anyway? I suppose we could all stay with CloneCones. Just not a fan of humidity.

I doubt the Big East will even exist in two years...

Are the top Big 12 schools going to start raking in Louisiana recruits because we're going to be attached to the Sugar Bowl now? I mean, out of 8 bowls, even if ISU was bowl elibible every year, what would be the odds of that kid ever even playing in that game. IMO, you'd need around 3 of our bowls to be in Florida to legitimately make that pitch. I just don't see that happening because the Big 12 will always skew Texas-heavy on their bowl sites. Maybe if we ditched our west coast bowls and concentrated on adding Florida games, but since the Big Ten has good long-standing relationships with the best games, I think that's a foolish notion.
