Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Two points. 247Sports recruiting evaluator has rated Ernest Suttles an "immediate impact" player. Meaning, in his opinion, Suttles is talented enough to challenge for playing time right from the get-go. They have rated Suttles as the 25th best WDE in the country. Second point. Trevor Hodge has very good grades. I don't know why anyone is questioning his status academically.

Anybody know if we are looking to get a 25th guy for this class or are we pretty much done? Don't know about Suttles ... Rivals lists him as a strong verbal to the good guys and not even an offer/interest from Mizzou. I know their databases are not always up to date but they have reported the visit.
The 25 signees/year limit is not going to be the problem. Technically there are 5 early enrollment slots this year. 4 have been used. Therefore 29 could sign. BUT, the limiting factor is the 85 overall scholarships. With 21 seniors and two known other scholarships not being renewed (scholarships are a year by year agreement) means 23 open scholarships at this point. On the above list, Ryan Glenn is going to greyshirt meaning he will count against next year's limits. To sign above 23 will mean some will not be returning for a variety of reasons. I trust the staff to know how to make this all work.

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Welcome Brandon Harris!!! The kid caught his second TD over the middle in traffic again. He looks to be fearless and obviously has great concentration. Its kind of crazy...there are 9 players in this game that are going D1 and they introduced 8 of em, leaving Harris without mention. He has 2 of his teams 3 TDs and still no comments as to his committment to ISU. Dumb arse announcers!

Sounds like it was quite the game and the Katy team is the possible #1 HS team in the nation. Nice to have players coming in with a history of showing up in big games.

Who are the guys that haven't visited yet? Webster, Tribune, Williams, and Harris? I'm sure I probably missed a couple of these guys when they came in.

I don't know, there's just something about his highlight videos that says he's going to be the pass rushing beast (ala Berryman) that we've been needing.
I was amazed that we were able to keep Wimberly and Bibbs to stay here... now if we can keep Suttles as well, that would be awesome!

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Tampa area sportswriter had an article that stated for the later half of this past season, teams were putting two blockers on Suttles every play. They were also keeping a running back on Suttle's side to help slow him down. Ernest Suttles still finished with 88 tackles, 12 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. (That is a lot of tackles for a DE.)

I'm not the recruiting guru that many of you are, but this class looks like a monster to me. I really like the linemen with the frame and skills to open up some holes. Can't wait to see these guys on the field. Sounds like we will see some of them next fall.

He likes to have mobile lineman with big frames (in the 6'4" - 6'5" range). Only one 6'2" lineman (DT Devlyn Cousin) recruited which is now more of our linebacker height. IIRC, the coaching staff has said you will not see too many 300+ pounders recruited since they like mobility and Yancy can bulk them up.

Possibles, Markeith Ambles signed LOI with USC and James Julius committed to Pitt on 12/23, are off the board.

Hopefully Allen Lazard is the beginning of a "monster" class.

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
I've seen a question regarding yesterday's bowl loss and its impact to recruiting posted in a couple of different threads. The immediate reaction from a random sample is along the lines of 'hey the Cyclones could have used you today'. It is still over a month until signing day, so a lot can happen but many have chosen to come to Ames to make an impact. Yesterday just shows that impact can be more immediate. Not only from an overall talent point of view but depth wise. A RFrosh started at QB. Miller was in for Knott. Morrissey played quite a bit. Bundrage has played all year. Simply ... there is PT available.

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
I'm just glad that this class is basically full already. Now Rhoads just has to keep on board everyone that has verbally committed. I would hate to be Rhoads if he still had 10 spots to fill and had to go out and sell the turd we layed yesterday.
