And it goes without saying that we need to hold on to DE Suttles. He is getting better offers than any DE recruit we have signed in recent memory, we really need a pass rusher off the edge.

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
I was curious where Adam Pavlenko (who's leaving left a 2012 scholarship unused) is. I found an article and a mention on the AZ message board that he was attending Scottsdale Community College but he wasn't on the football roster. Not earth shaking news that an athlete quits or takes a year off; just a curiousity. http://blogs.evtrib.com/varsityxtra/...es-iowa-state/ Scottsdale Community College Athletics Athletics - 2012 Football Roster
Side note: Who would not want to play for the Fighting Artichokes?

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Brisly Estime now listed as a safety on Rivals. Not sure that his visit to W. Mich. on Jan. 11 is too serious. He is going with a HS teammate, DE Todney Evans, who de-commited from them. Josh Edwards @JEdwar247 Fla Cornerback Brisly Estime was being recruited by Kentucky before he committed to Iowa State. He has not heard from the Cats since. PrepBuilders.com @PrepBuilders
Atlantic 2013 DE Todney Evans and ATH Brisly Estime to take official visit to #Western Michigan on Jan. 11 BroncoBlitz @WMURivals
Also looking like recent decommit Todney Evans and #IowaState#Cyclones commit Brisly Estime will be visiting #WMU on Jan. 11 Brian Persky @BrianPersky
Fleck has also scheduled official visits for Brisly Estime & Todney Evans, pair of highly talented Delray Beach, FL recruits with BCS looks. Mark Stampini @MarkStampini

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Possible signee list keeps shrinking w/o any new commits. Regie Meant, DE, Cape Coral, (Fla.) is reported to be in Ames 1/11/13 after visiting KSU and Washington State in Dec. ISU is listed as his favorite but NC State visit is scheduled for 1/25.
The 2013 class is pretty much done after Meant. I think now the focus is to keep everyone committed and get them into school.
Maliek Collins, DT, Kansas City, (Mo.) Center committed to Nebraska on 1/6.
Vontarius West, DB, Bartow, (Fla.) appears to be down to Minnesota, S. Florida & Florida Int'l.
Keith Kelsey Jr., LB, Gainesville, (Fla.) [high w/offers on ISU, Duke, Louisville & S. Florida] has Louisville & USF final two.
Bobby Leath, DT, Lake Wales, (Fla.) [high w/offers on ISU and Mizzou] leaning to KSU with Florida, S. Florida & UCF still involved.
Blake McClain, DB, Winter Park, (Fla.) [soft verbal to Kentucky] recommitted to Kentucky on 1/6 with official visit on 1/11.

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Maybe if we are perusing meant, there might be a bit of fear regarding suttles visit to NU. Either the plan is to over sign, staff plans to lose a couple recruits, or a player or two plan to leave the program.

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
Don't know the staff's plan or strategy but 6 scholarships open up with 2 DE and 4 DT seniors eligibility up. Are they trying to keep about the same numbers? Waggoner, Trent, Suttles, and Meant would make 4 and have 16 total DL on scholarship (18 in 2012).

Re: Iowa State's Class of 2013
For those curious about how many can sign on Feb. 6th, the short answer is 21.
The long answer is 85 total scholarships is the limiting factor this year.
21 seniors/RS eligibility is up.
4 will not be on 2013 scholarship (Barnett, Daniels, Pavlenko & Morgan)
4 enrolled early (Wimbley, Bibbs, Curtis & Meeks)
Estime has tweeted that he is not signing on Feb.6. Sounds like academics/test scores; also indicates that he is working with a tutor. May be the slot KJ Young fills?
Does anyone know if Quinton Pompey made the grades? Perhaps Regie Meant is signed for another DL. Last year, there were 18 DE/DT on scholarship. 16 for 2013 at this point with Pompey.
I hope all of the commits plus Meant and Young make it to Ames. Yes, I know the math doesn't work from what I just typed but the FB staff knows more than what has been announced.
