ISU is in a better conference. ISU currently has better facilities. From all indications, ISU is in a better position budget wise. Wisconsin is not that much easier to recruit to then Iowa.

you realize he's getting paid 4 million a year right? It's not like he took less to stay there. So yeah, If ISU offered Rhoads more money than Wisconsin was willing to pay then I agree he wouldn't leave.

Was KF getting 4 million back in 2002? CPR very well could be using this as a commitment check- JP will respond.

Does Rhoads have any ties to Wisconsin? I can't find any.

His pay is a joke to be honest. I know it's 20 million guaranteed but its less than 2 mill a year right now. He is one of the least paid coaches in the BCS

I really don't see CPR playing this for a raise for himself coming so close on the heels of a raise and after a 6-6 season. I could see him asking for a little added to the pot for his assistants, though. I'm pretty sure he knows how important keeping the right guys around on his staff is to continued improvement of the program.

I'm often wrong, but I really do think that CPR understands that if he continues the path of improvement for ISU football, he will be viewed as not only a great coach, but a Legend. Some things are more important than money, particularly to one with a good heart - and I think CPR has such a heart.

He might see that path as being incredibly difficult to continue upon? I have no idea...but again, many thought they would be building statues of DMac outside of JTS when he was finished...instead the door was happily held wide-open for him to walk out of the program!

Chryst came out yesterday morning with a pretty strong statement about his commitment to Pitt. I don't know that it closes the door 100% but it's close.

I'm not sure the assistant thing is there. I could see CPR wanting that, but by several accounts, one of the reasons BB left wiscy was not being able to keep assistants due to pay, I'm not sure that's the card to make that play on.

Not all facilities. I toured Camp Randall when it was under construction in 2004. It is two steps above JTS.

CPR is a good coach and you think I want him at Wisconsin? lol. Wisconsin being good is worse for Iowa than ISU being good.

I don't agree with the idea that an AD like Alvarez couldn't "sell" Rhoads to the fan base. Perhaps that would be true for the most elite jobs, but not for jobs like Wisconsin. People have seen the videos, taken note of the high-profile upsets, and look at his .500 record and say, "He must be good if he's winning at Iowa State."

For better or worse I think that's the perception in the marketplace.

I think Rhoads would sell Rhoads to the Wisky fan base pretty quickly.

I don't know what they have for facilities vs ours, but Camp Randall smokes the Jack out of the water and it is not even close. I don't know any specifics on the budgets, but I can't imagine they
would be in a better position than us. Recruiting to Wisconsin would be a breeze over Iowa State. Recruiting isn't about geography.

Sorry but I just completely disagree with you. Wisconsing is a legit top 25 program and has been for years. Iowa State is a legit bottom 25 BCS program. Things might be changing, and I am very optimistic about where we are going, but facts are facts.
