Pollard is just flat out awesome! It is great to have someone that sweats these little things. I feel that we are definitely making a good impression on the Liberty Bowl for a potential Big 12 partnership.
I also changed my site to reflect that we are going to be wearing cardinal. Looks like all my "research" went down the drain. O well, I would much rather have the cardinal uniforms!
Bowl Games - Cardinal and Gold Threads
So, will TULSA being wearing their Blue uniforms? If so, this will look like a classic USC/UCLA game!
As an art director by trade, I wish every client I worked for had even half the same broad vision Pollard has. A lot of other professionals have no doubt worked tirelessly on it, but he's done a real 180 on our athletic dept brand image. In the end he's the one signing off on most of the big projects and clearly is involved even at the detail level. The university has a separate brand identity that has never been in the rough shape the athletic brand identity was for quite a while.
Y'all wanna stop wearing cardinal and gold unis just because USC happens to wear them as well? We came first, and I'll be damned if we step down because we can't handle a little competition.
Nebraska and Wisconsin
Pretty much exactly identical for decades, nobody cares. You could win and nobody gives a crap if you look like something else. Quality matters above all. If a Lexus and a Mercedes look alike they're still coveted, if a Kia comes out that looks exactly like a Mercedes then you have some issues.
The SEC has something like a third of its teams named Tigers. Imagine if we played the Kansas Cyclones, then the Ok State Cyclones then a few weeks later the TCU Cyclones. Nobody cares because the SEC is a good brand in terms of on field quality. If the CUSA was half Tigers it would be a big running joke.
I think we should keep JP. That seems like a good idea.
Any idea how many tickets Tulsa has sold?
Towels...they look more like a Cyclone when twirled.
