I don't think those are stars on the mid's uniforms. Just part of the "effects" in that picture (it's not on the other two). The Army is correct...they are battle maps from the Battle of the Bulge.
This is one of my favorite games of the year. It really means more to these guys than other guys. They are not playing for an NFL contract. They are playing for the opportunity to put the uniform on. Very old school. Being a Marine I have to root for Navy due to many of the Navy players going on to be Marines. However, I always feel bad when Army loses this game and I have to see them cry. Real tears.
