Football player retention
Bored needed something to do. No guarantee on accuracy
Year - Freshmen recruited - 2013 team status
2009 - 18 Freshmen - 4 Sr (graduated as starters) - 9 RSr, all possible starters - 5 left early
2010 - 17 Freshamn - 3 Sr, alll possible staters - 12 RJr - 2 left early
2011 - 17 Freshamen - 3 Jr, all possible staters - 14 RSo - 0 left early
2012 - 21 Freshsmen - 21 RFr - 0 left early
To paraphrase CPR - it is not the players you missed on recruiting, it is the players you got and missed judged. Retention and redshirting should lead to a better developed and mature team on the field next year and hopefully a better winning record.

No hollis was a running back. I think it was Donald Smith out of Florida. Don't recall his last name

I can't recall Donald Smith's last name either!
Re: Football player retention
But yes, Donald Smith was a loss. Had a couple BCS offers.
Re: Football player retention
The numbers may not be 100% but the point is accurate. The key to our success is identifying players who can develop and then keeping them on campus. If our "stick rate" can be better then other schools in the Big XII, then we will consistently have more experienced players and can regularly compete with schools who recruit players with more "stars"

Smith, Mattison, Bennett, Pavlenko were all losses or misses. No wonder we are thin at LB.
His point is valid though. Outside of LB our retention has been great.
Re: Football player retention
I used the roster on cyclones.com and it did not have players that never made it to campus or left during the year. I did say I did not guartanee the accuracy.

Donald Smith LB recruit, I thought he was in the 2011 class though..
Re: Football player retention
I am hoping CPRs "all in" is more than just a slogan and they are "all in" until graduation. We had more seniors on this years team and I hope it is because CPR emphasizes the importance of keeping all his recruits until they graduate. I loved Coach Mac but his retention with 5th year seniors was horrendous.
