I think it was about 2007 when that was the question constantly being asked by people when they had the season ticket counter on cyclones.com for Chiziks first year. Still gets referred to quite a bit

How many did ISU send to the Insight bowl? It seemed like a TON.

The main idea is that Cyclones fans are coming through once again with huge tickets sales for the Liberty Bowl.

Re: 13,000+ Tickets Sold from ISU for Liberty Bowl
For comparison purposes, last year it looks like cincinatti sold 10k of its 12k allotment, and it looks like vanderbilt sold about 12k. They were both closer than ISU (with vanderbilt just 3 hours away). I'm sure more were bought directly through the bowl, but the same is probably true of ours. Attendance was 57103
The year before, UCF sold 3723 and Georgia sold 3244. Attendance was 51,231

Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Darren Rovell just tweeted that the only schools to have sold their allotment of bowl tickets so far are Alabama, Notre Dame, UCLA, Stanford, Kansas State, and Iowa State.

National championship game teams
Pac 12 champion playing in their home state
Pac 12 south division champion playing in their home state
Big 12 champion
And 6-6 ISU 9 hours from home.

People seem to forget there will be a lot of ISU fans that get tix by other means and will not be included in the 13K total to date.

Props to K-State. I gotta believe we would do the same if we were in their position. I always believe that ISU and KSU are very similar in terms of school, athletics, and fans. Thought maybe their bowl following would lack considering travel and the fact that this bowl is a bit of a letdown after being so close to the NCG.

You have the two teams in the national championship game, both with massive fanbases. You have a team that won their division and had their best season in 8 years, playing in a bowl that's two hours away from home. You have a team playing in the Rose Bowl in their home state for the first time in 13 years. You have a team playing in the Fiesta Bowl after winning their conference and having their best season ever.
And then you have 6-6 Iowa State, who finished 9th in their conference and are playing more than nine hours away from home.
One of those things is not like the others... and when it comes time for ISU to be in the conversation for a bigger bowl (like Cotton or Alamo), they won't forget these numbers!

Very similar, if KSU had 7k more students, more fans, and was a member of AAU.
