Really surprised by this. Thought Barry would get a bigger 'name' than than Anderson. Badger fans I have talked to are not exited.

Coaching upgrade, imo. Most fans are clueless when it comes to coaching searches, as we all know by now. ;-)

Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Not the big name hire I was expecting but at least their field goal kickers will be good.

From the outside looking in, it certainly appears BA likes to micro-manage and have his way. I believe you are 100% correct in labeling this as a "puppet hire".

Wisconsin will never score a big name hire as long as Alvarez is AD. I think the fact that Alvarez is coming back to coach the Rose Bowl tells you just how enmeshed he is in the football program. The HC doesn't call the shots up here. It's all Alvarez. People in Madison think Barry is the second coming of Jesus and don't see how having him as AD is actually going to hurt the quality of coach they can bring in. No one wants to come here and work as a glorified assistant for Barry. If Anderson has success, I'm sure he will jump ship to a place where he has more autonomy ASAP. That's why Brett left.

Agree with your control factor comments on BA, but don't feel sorry for BB. Nobody other than Alvarez would have given BB the millions that he did at the time.

Pretty good hire. Defensive minded like Bielema. Probably better coach overall.

This guy was able to win at Utah St. Let that sink in. Check Utah St.'s record before and after Anderson.

I just have no idea where Wisky is putting their money. B11 makes just as much money as the SEC if not more. Why wouldn't you break the bank on assistants?
