Pollard: More Tickets Sold Than Any ISU Bowl Game!

Pollard said in an interview on Cyclones.tv today that ISU has sold more tickets to the Liberty Bowl than to any bowl game in ISU history - including the 2000 Insight Bowl! Excellent work, Cyclone Nation! He said he anticipates 20k - 25k Cyclone fans in attendance.
"No matter how many hours you study opponent films, there's only going to be eleven players on the other side of the line of scrimmage." - Sid Gillman

It's a simple game in which strategic beauty comes not from being surprised by some new clever trick, but from the sublime, routine brilliance of a master in his element.

I think there were more then 20k-25k Cyclone fans in attendance at the 2000 Insight Bowl game, maybe that is all that was bought thru Iowa State, but there were probably close to 35000k in attendance at that bowl game.

Excited for the start of the Cyclone Invasion today. Rumor has it that we could have 25,000 Cyclones fans at the game on Monday. Wow!

Insite.com bowl we basically filled the stadium. Not sure if those were all isu tickets though.

I'm so glad that I'm in the minority but I can't get excited for a rematch with Tulsa. Like I said, I'm GLAD I'm nearly alone on this. Kudos to the fans making the trip. It's impressive.

Pretty sweet cyclone nation! I am sad we aren't going but my wife said, "We can go when it's closer". I said the only closer bowl is Detroit. She then said we can go next year. I told her we can get tickets to Pasadena ASAP. Right?

I'm with you on this. I can't get excited about a rematch against an opponent we dominated. Great location but wish it was against another BCS opponent.

This is awesome and will only help the notion that ISU's fanbase travels well. Sell this many tickets to a rematch against a non-BCS team? Wow. Great work! Should be a blast. I will be in attendance! Looking forward to it!!!!

Being the outcast in BCS (no bowl tie-in), we did not have many choices. Tulsa is more fun to play than ULL or Ohio.

I agree that the rematch with Tulsa kinda takes a little luster off of the whole thing. But you also have to think that the emergence of Sam Richardson at QB makes it a whole lot easier for fans to rally around the team. I just don't see ISU fans being this excited about the Liberty Bowl if we are going into it debating about who should be starting at QB between Jantz and JB. Regardless, way to step up Cyclone Nation.

Total attendance was under 42,000 and I doubt ISU had quite as many as you think. But we did have a lot of people, certainly dominated judging by all the red in the stands.

There were not 35k ISU fans at the Insite Bowl in 2000. It cracks me up how that number gets bigger and bigger the further away we get from 2000.

I'm guessing we will have 15-17k in Memphis and everyone will report 25k.

There should be a Cyclone Power chant going on Tulsa's first possesion. There should be enough Cyclone fans in attendance that it would sound great on TV. Just have to coordinate which sections do the Cyclone and which do the Power.
They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.
