Big 12 2013 QB's
While watching the first two Big 12 bowl games, it got me thinking of next year as both of the QB's in play are seniors and are among the elite in the Big 12. Below is the Big 12 Teams and their projected starters. (Based on Depth Chart's and no incoming true freshman) It seems like the Big 12 will have a lot of fresh faces coming in to start next year.
Kansas State- Replacing Collin Klein
Likely Starter: Daniel Sams or maybe Jake Waters Daniel Sams - Yahoo! Sports Jake Waters - Yahoo! Sports
Oklahoma- Replacing Landry Jones
Likely Starter: Blake Bell Blake Bell - Yahoo! Sports
West Virginia- Replacing Geno Smith
Likely Starter: Unknown, Sounds like Ford Childress may be it. Also recruiting #1 Juco QB Tanner McEvoy Tanner McEvoy - Yahoo! Sports Ford Childress - Yahoo! Sports
Texas Tech: Replacing Seth Doege
Likely Starter: Michael Brewer Michael Brewer - Yahoo! Sports
Baylor: Replacing Nick Florence
Likely Starer: Bryce Petty Bryce Petty - Yahoo! Sports
Pretty sure that is all of the Quarterbacks that will be gone.
Returning QB's:
Texas- David Ash
OK State- JW Walsh, Clint Chelf, Wes Lunt
ISU- Sam Richardson, Jared Barnett, Grant Rohach
Kansas: Michael Cummings
TCU: Josh Boykin
Seems like OK State may have a leg up on the QB Competition in the Big 12. As weird as it may sound, David Ash may be a top 3 Big 12 QB going into next year. Alot can and will happen but it's interesting to take a look into next year.
Has anybody heard of True Freshman, Transfers, or any other Juco's that may make a QB impact in 2013?

Re: Big 12 2013 QB's
OSU takes a step up and OU takes a step down. Pretty cool to see that.
also: KSU should have a 2 QB system for running and throwing situations.

Kansas' QB will be BYU transfer Jake Heaps Jake Heaps - Yahoo! Sports -

Now that you bring that up, I do remember the announcers for the ISU vs Kansas game mention this name.

It'll be interesting to see whether CPR opens up the QB competition again, or whether it will be SBR's to lose. It's hard to tell since A) CPR does often make the QBs compete, B) it hasn't exactly produced stellar results, C) SBR only has a small sample size, and D) Rohach has zero sample size.

Bowl game performance should very well answer that question, IMHO. I hope to god there isn't another competition next year because I think with a strong bowl showing, SR locks it up. If there's another QB competition, we get another year of "do we go with the guy who is sometimes good, sometimes sucks, or the guy we haven't seen play but have all heard good things about?"

Re: Big 12 2013 QB's
This discussion makes you wonder if a guy like Blake Bell would have been better off going to a ISU or Iowa level team versus an OU level team?
He has played behind Landry Jones for 3 years now, if you include his RS first year. He now only has 2 years left, but there's a decent chance now that he might get passed over by an incoming freshman with huge talent.
Blake Bell was a 4 star QB recruit, and the 6th best QB prospect in the nation, coming out of HS. But he goes to OU, and might not ever see the field other than in goal line situations as a fullback basically. If this freshman beats him out next year, he may not ever get to show what he can do.
Now if he went to a school like Iowa or ISU, maybe he starts for 3 or 4 years and puts up gaudy numbers and ends up getting drafted. He then ends up being a decent backup in the NFL for several years and ends up being set for life. But instead, he went to OU, and never got that opportunity.
I think this is what Paul Rhoads can sell kids on when he's recruiting. You can go to OU or Texas if you want, but you might want to be prepared to sit on the bench for 4 years down there. Or you can come to ISU and play almost immediately.

I don't think going to a "lesser" school would have helped him with that.
