Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
I got retweeted by CW and brushed shoulders on Beale Street. We're pretty much BFFs

Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
Tulsa fan: wow you Iowa State people really showed up for this game. Me: yep, we are a pretty loyal bunch. What do You think about the game? Tulsa fan: I just hope it's a good close game, win or lose. Me: no offense but I hope we kick your butts. Tulsa fan: that's fair, but could you please try to beat OU at least once in a while? I hate those guys.
Not bad people at all.

Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
One other one: finding a place to eat before the parade in the Beale street area was very tough. Flying saucer had seating but NO wait staff. This was the case many places. Memphis was very unprepared for the shear number of Cyclone fans. We are staying way out in Bartlett and our hotel is full of Cyclones.

Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
Decided to go "The Half Shell" quite a ways away from Beale St. and after we finished eating the manager came up to me and said thank you for coming to Memphis, I hope ya'll had a good time. As we were leaving he came outside and said the same thing to my whole family. Us coming down here was a nice little boost in their economy and we got a lot of thank you's along the way at different businesses.
I WAS THERE!!!!!! -
Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
What was Jake Knott talking about 2005, did someone reference ISU losing to TCU at our pep rally?

Seriously, you guys down there are really posting some great comments. It gives all of us Cyclone fans who are stuck at home a feeling for the great times that are going on down there. You all are representing the Cyclone Nation very well!
Believe me, I have extenuating circumstances that I have to take care of here at home or I would be smack dab in the middle of everything happening in Memphis! Go Cyclones!!!

Flying saucer was a train wreck, 1 bartender, no wheat beer, sloooow service.

Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
My cabbie from Beale street last night remarked on how nice everyone has been.
They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there. -

Re: Voices from Memphis: Bowl Game Edition
At the parade there was a family of Tulsa fans and since nobody wanted the blue beads they had probably 20 each. At one point the dad looks around to notice he is surrounded by ISU people and then jokingly offered every single person some blues beads with no takers. Also, at coyote ugly everyone stopped what they were doing to boo the only two Tulsa girls off the bar. I kinda felt bad for them but they took it with a laugh. Overall the very few Tulsa fans I've talked to have been really nice but everyone understands this is a home game for us.
