What timeout was going to magically motivate the guys to start tackling? The 15 practices didn't get anyone ready. Why would one timeout?
Whatever? Jantz fumbled and mad poor decisions! Glad he is done!!!!
We got outplayed - poor tackling, o-line got dominated, and we needed a some kind of spark from our special teams which didn't happen.
Add in penaltys, crappy punting, field position, and Tulsa was the better team.
Any team that plays our receivers in bump and run -- we suck!
Need more athletes!!!
You have the ******* downs kid.
Why don't you do us all a favor and drown yourself in Lake LaVerne and save humanity the trouble of dealing with your *******.
I'll agree that the team seemed ill prepared for the bowl and got lots of penalties, which is on CPR, but lack of tackling by the D isn't his fault. Offensive playcalling wasn't good. SR was bad outside of a handful of plays and Steele wasn't good either. Holding penalties as line was getting killed due to Tulsa knowing we were passing every down.
This went beyond Rhoads yelling at Lang, which was justified in that situation when we were only down 4 and had stopped them on third down. I'm with CPR on that one. 11 pts behind when offense was struggling vs 7 was huge.
WHo is in charge of getting them ready? Tulsa was clearly more fired up than we were and it remained that way throughout. We never took the **** out them even with the quick start. We were flat in the bowl game last year and flat this year. We had no response in either game. I understand some will say these games don't matter, but this is becoming a trend. And if we get to a premier game why would we expect any different
The concerning thing is how the team looked unprepared and very undisciplined today.
Only lost 5 yards, we needed a spark at that point, a big kick return would have been just that. Fine with the call.Quote:
Kickoff out of bounds and we decline? Great decision Paul, especially when the return only gets to the 30.
Impossible to pin this solely on the play of Richardson. Poor running game, inconsistent defense, bad penalties, Tulsa's running game, all had atleast as much to do with the way the game turned out. You need to pick a QB and go, not change them every time the wind changes direction.Quote:
Last year in the bowl game we pull the QB that had arguably the biggest win in ISU history after a quarter and a half cause JB started ineffective. This year Sam Richardson is allowed to QB for 2 quarters (2nd and 3rd) when he played absolutely terrible, worse than I have ever seen terrible. Jantz (who beat Tulsa earlier) gets to come in when Tulsa has stopped playing aggressive man D and dropped to soft zone. Had Jantz come in after half, he would have had a shot to beat them over the top like he did earlier this year.
This thread is awful.Quote:
Rhoads was aweful this game. Stuff runs down hill and the rest of the team followed. This was top down terrible play today.
Oh I'm sorry, I didn't realize that every good coach is undefeated. Seriously, our freshman QB was sick and the program is still being built.
Steele Pantz is not playing another snap!
Paul Rhoads was aweful in his decisions today, despite what some are grasping at. The team followed. This better not become a trend in bowl games. This is the 2nd year in a row that we are basically a completely different team in the bowl game. Something has got to change and I lay that on the coaches. Sorry if some of what I am saying is based in over-reaction, but there is some truth in there as well.
If anyone put this game on the defense, you were not watching the same game as me. Our offense was terrible as usual and their 2nd and 3rd scores were both only about 50 yard drives because our offense sucks. Something does need to be done, but blaming the whole game on a couple dumb penalties is silly.
QBs tryouts start next week.
