Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
Paul made a terrible decision to accept the holding penalty when we made a stop on 3rd down that would have made it 4th and 2. Then Laing gets a dumb personal foul and Rhoads chews him out. Probably doesn't happen if the coach doesn't make a terrible decision.
Kickoff out of bounds and we decline? Great decision Paul, especially when the return only gets to the 30.
Last year in the bowl game we pull the QB that had arguably the biggest win in ISU history after a quarter and a half cause JB started ineffective. This year Sam Richardson is allowed to QB for 2 quarters (2nd and 3rd) when he played absolutely terrible, worse than I have ever seen terrible. Jantz (who beat Tulsa earlier) gets to come in when Tulsa has stopped playing aggressive man D and dropped to soft zone. Had Jantz come in after half, he would have had a shot to beat them over the top like he did earlier this year.
Rhoads was aweful this game. Stuff runs down hill and the rest of the team followed. This was top down terrible play today.

Jantz turned it over 2 of 3 drives he had. He probably could have gone 6 for 10 if in for the whole half.

Re: Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
Disagree......Lang penalty happened late enough we were already their ******* and were not going to win. The kick-off thing was dumb I agree, but we were desperate then too.
We lost this game in second quarter with ZERO defensive and tackling effort. A quarterback that was dazed and confused....maybe at why we could not have a run call. Running backs running laterally every freaking play, etc....
You may be a troll....can anyone vouch for you? Rhoads is the answer....he has some game preparation improvement and a new O coach may help.

You do realize they would have went for it on 4th down, dont you?
Where is the QB that started the bowl game last year?

I just find it frustrating for Rhoads to chew into players when his coaching was absolutely terrible today. Who is chewing his ***

Re: Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
As for the kickoff. The offense hant done anything all half. Giving the fastest guys on you team a shot with the ball wasnt a bad choice. He lost 5 yards on not taking the pen.

Re: Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
You realize they have a 260 pound rb that was running all over us right? He could have gotten those 2 yards. Makes them more 1 dimensional by accepting it. The kickoff? We have shown we can make big plays on kickoffs, why not try it when we are not doing squat on offense? QB decision? Once again we have a guy who is not running this offense well so why not put in a QB who has proven he can bring us back? I see nothing wrong with his decisions.

Re: Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
This post is full of fail.
If Tulsa goes for it on 4th and 2 they probably get the first down. By accepting the penalty it was 3rd and 12, which ISU stopped and had it not been for Cleon Laing's idiocy the defense forces the punt. CPR does not get any of the blame on that, Laing gets all of it.
On the kickoff. Are you really implying, with the way the offense played on that drive and all afternoon, for that matter, that 5 measly yards was the difference? If we had the ball at the 35 instead of the 30 we would have driven for the TD?
As far as your QB controversy, all last year and this year proved was that our issues extend WAAAAAAY beyond the QB position.

Coaching in bowl games has been bad. This can't be denied.

Re: Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
Instead of a 4th and 2, Rhoads put Tulsa into about a 4th and 5 ensuring they would attempt a field goal...until Laing had to go and screw that up. I support Rhoads there...the kick off decline? Did not like that at all. That's just pulling at strings.

Re: Paul Rhoads true colors beginning to shine through
Some have mentioned the tackling. Where was a timeout and just ripping into the guys for ****** tackling? Nope we don't get that one. We get an *** chewing on guy that made a dumb play following a terrible decision to accept a holding penalty after we hold them on third down.
He didn't rip Jensen for essentially the same thing. Rhoads looked like a complete baffoon
