We need an OC with enough balls to evaluate the talent and pick a QB. There apparently was very little difference between the 3 as far as talent goes when looking at this year alone, I realize and hope that Richardson is only a fresh and will improve. But at that point, we just need a guy that has confidence. Our QB, and entire offense, had no confidence on who was going to be taking the next snap all year long. That lack of stability is a bad thing, in my opinion. Competition is great, but I want it to end after spring ball.

Also, I can't get over our DT's personal foul. That did it for me. After they scored on that drive, I turned the game off and went to enjoy my New Year's Eve.
Actually it shows recruits they can play right away.

IMO, Richardson being sick impacted his play as the game wore on. Hard to get a lot of confidence behind a line that was being beaten badly by the Tulsa DL. And Jantz is just a turnover machine.

We still had a shot to pull it out until Cleyon Laing's idiotic personal foul. Absolutely one of the dumbest plays I have ever seen.

Actually, the way the Big 12 as looked thus far isn't making me feel any better about all this. I'm in the type of pessimistic mood now, that I'm afraid KState is going to get absolutely embarrassed.

I'd rather show recruits we can win. We've been "showing" recruits they can play right away for years and haven't gotten a commit on the level of Lazard before.

Thank god you are not a recruiter. Selling is not about what you "rather". It is SOP to sell PT before you can sell wins.

I also agree that Liang's personal foul was horribly timed...probably still going to lose, but those little things are huge. I noticed he and that guy were getting chippy on previous plays, but you have to keep your cool...probably frustration, but you have to put that aside.

KSU does the little things With few mistakes and it pays off. Tackling, few penalties, special teams, etc. we need to get to the basics.

Hey Chris I agree with your buddy Jack Whitver (sic?), when he sez that until we find a Quarterback who can run the spread offense like maybe Todd Resing KU, we will continue to embarrass ourselves with nine 1st downs and 56 total plays for the game.

"You cant win with numbers like those"..quoting ben bruns

I will add that with those pathetic numbers we could not even beat Ames High....This Offense: PATHETIC BOYS/GIRLS JUST PATHETIC....

Re: Williams: A Liberty Bowl Letdown

We will never know how good our QB is until we have talent around him. There were moments yesterday when Sam had time and receivers never got open. The line, as already mentioned, was abysmal most of the night. When Sam did get the ball to receivers, half the time they dropped it. Any way you look at the offense there wasn't a single positive to take from the game as a complete work. The defense...was the same it has been all year. Make some stops and turn around and give up chunks of yards/points. No consistency. All goes to show we are what we are - an average to below average team capable of beating nearly anyone, but capable of losing to anyone.

These are the same conversations we had last year. I'm struggling to see where the program progressed this year.

Yes, that is BS. What the heck Chris? It was not even a good season. Acceptable, but not good, and certainly not great.
This season is the lowest form of an 'acceptable' season. Six and six was okay, not what we all wanted but decent and beating the street in a number of ways. This is a case where a bowl game can make a difference in perception. A win gives a boost in confidence and sends us in the off-season on a big positive note. A close loss is bad for momentum but can be rationalized away. An awful bowl loss just leaves a bad taste in our mouths and undermines positive momentum.

Bottom line is that we are at a place now where the product on the field needs to match the commitment and the turnout of the fans. For many years when we had thousands of empty seats, I had the feeling that we were getting what we as fans and stakeholders were willing to pay for. We have built a solid foundation with Rhoads, but we're stepping up in ways better than K-State and Okie State, and certainly Kansas. I think the stadium expansion has gone from an ambitious idea, to a fairly realistic if not necessary logical next step. The fans are doing their part. The product on the field needs to keep up with this increased effort on the part of the fans. It starts with better performances at home and in big exposure games like this.

Re: Williams: A Liberty Bowl Letdown

This team needs an OC competition. Not a QB competition. Time for CPR to stop throwing QBs under the bus and address the underlying issue of an anemic offense that dates back to Herman.

It isn't the receivers, it isn't the oline, it isn't the RBs, and it isn't the QBs. Statistically there is just no way that we lack enough talent at each and every position on offense to put up points on anyone. It is the overall offensive coaching/scheme that needs to be addressed or this team will fall even further behind in the B12.

    I agree.

6-7 is not the performance you expect from a 2 million dollar/year head coach. Sorry, it's just not. 6-6 should NEVER get you to a bowl game. But in today's "everyone gets a trophy" world, 6-6 is rewarded. Garbage.

And no, I couldn't do better, but I don't make 2 million a year either.

And Chris, please explain why us fans should step away from the ledge again? I don't get it? ISU fans are amazing. Probably the best in the country for taking over 20k to a crappy bowl game in crappy weather to watch a below average 6-6 football team.

And what are the ISU fans rewarded with? Getting humiliated by Tulsa in front of the entire country. Getting humiliated by Rutgers in front of the entire country. We are not a good football team. 98 yds rushing to Tulsa's 300+ yds. That is getting dominated video game style right there.

ISU fans keep coming out year after year after year. Well, that's not going to keep happening if we keep laying turds like this. If for nothing else, at least show a pulse out there. All these fans paid big money and took time out of their schedules to come to Memphis, and our team doesn't even try or have any passion at all to win that game yesterday. None. They might as well have not gotten off the bus. Not only that, then we embarrass ourselves even more by all the cheapshot penalties we got.

This bowl did NOT help ISU football at all. We know you have to sugarcoat it Chris since you still need to get interviews, etc, but this bowl trip was a step backwards for ISU football. A national embarrassment. We got literally pounded by Tulsa, and showed no heart or self respect in doing so.

THIS! I was so disgusted by that dick move. So long Cleyon Laing, I am not going to miss you. You have no idea what "Honor Before Victory" means.
They say that English surnames came from what you did with your life. I'm so glad my last name isn't Dickinson.

I can't wait til next season!! We've got a whole squad of red shirts coming on the team and I'm betting some of those will be monster lineman! 2013 will rock! Add to this the fact I still hate the Halkeyes, and that Baylor, and KU still suck, and that we'll beat KSU w/out Klein, we'll beat Tulsa, and we'll beat UNI, and I bet we beat WVU w/out Geno, and we'll beat Tech. OSU will be tough again, and UT, OU, and TCU will all be good, but I bet we win one of those. Eight months is too long to wait!
