Somehow I can't help but think of the irony of this phrase now with the general and his mistress.
That being said, I'm All In and looking forward to seeing what CPR can do with these recruits.
Some people forget how bad ISU was in football 80's-90's...ouch. The fan base isn't going to disappear; it's growing and will continue to grow. I wouldn't be surprised if we see record sales numbers again next year. There are a lot of positives: back-to-back bowls, two in-a-row against our rival, Iowa State is getting the top recruits in the state, we are competitive in the Big 12, and putting together solid recruiting class.
I'm All In. I've moved on. Not worth wasting my mental energy on "if/buts." I have faith JP, CPR, and other staff will get things figured out. I know the players want to be coached and want to be better. They want to be in the weight room. You think we all have a yucky taste...how do you think they feel?
As you all know, it's not one thing....some of it are mental things to overcome, some is getting the right personnel on the field, plays to fit the players, recruiting, etc. I think we have the right guy leading us and he knows he has things to work on with the team.
I have found that I can't value my fandom as much if I just blindly follow whatever Iowa State does as though everything is the best it could possibly be. If you can't acknowledge the failures, then how do you have any credibility as a fan when the team is doing well? That's just me. That's no excuse to be overly negative or ridiculous, but lots of things that are being brought up are legitimate concerns. Our offense has never been good, and doesn't seem to be progressing the way you would expect. If our defense regressed so much just losing Jake Knott this year, what will it look like next year losing Knott, Klein, Reeves, McDonough, Givens, and company? Why isn't the team getting better as the year goes on?
I'm All In for CPR and I believe he is the perfect fit for Iowa State and I think he will get us there, but it doesn't make him blameless and I'm sure he would be the first to tell you that.
ALL IN and happy when I look back at last 4 years and what Chiz did to program previous 2 years, next 2-3 years will be the difference. I'm expecting a couple 7-5 and one 8-4 record with a 2-1 bowl record these 3 years with CPR, it's that time of his contract to bring home the bacon. Expect 5 wins in the B12 also. Big hill to climb, but I'm ALL IN that CPR will get us there. Now let me quanify the record expectations, if we come away at 6-6 next year and offense is solid and competitive and we loose to a OU by 2 points and competitive in all other losses, I'm ok. Remember we're ISU and we play in the B12 one of the top 2 conferences in the BCS.
Influence....I suspect in actuality, he's hoping for some rep from you to blow up his points.
*super secret speculation....JP is actually one of our more kooky posters. He's cultivating the persona so that he's so not credible that if he ever accidentally lets some inside info slip in a drunken rant after a game like the bowl game, or god forbid another H@mpt0n (I'm sure that word is filtered, so I'll sneak it in that way), no one will believe it anyway. But, like all of us, he's become hooked on Like's, Rep, and Points.
I'm still annoyed we didnt win this game. I will add it to the long list of games we easily could have won with a little more execution. That being said, the fact that we were in a position to win those games means we have come a long way in the last 4 years. I am all in and already excited about what next season has to bring. GO STATE!!!
Im ALL IN as well. Just think we didnt get lucky once this year to get to 6 wins, all were legitimate. Now we are at the level where getting lucky means a 7th or 8th win in the regular season. Thats progress. There are 3 games that we had a good chance if the ball bounces right a couple of times. We are ok. We are recruiting well, fanbase is filling the stadium. Our biggest rival's football program is sucking wind and the fanbase is on a witchhunt. We have an in-state 5* kid comitting a year early, granted it helps that his dad and brother played or are playing for the Cyclones, but still. We have a 4* kid decomitting from Misery to come here. We have a kid decomitting from Cincinati enrolling early. And last but not least Gene Chizik got ran out of town down at Auburn and is finally showing his true colors and can't blame the lack of talent in Ames Iowa for his ineptitude.
Anyone remember the fan turnout for the 2000 season in which we were 8-3 on the season. We were lucky to have 40,000 at those home games that werent Iowa or Nebraska. We go 9-3 in a regular season JTS will be rumbling and full, oh wait it already is:)
