He was never gonna beat out Gage Schaeffer.

Last game of the year, Brent, can't hold anything back!

Where was he during the Liberty Bowl? He is listed as playing, but with no tackles. I don't remember seeing him during the game.

WR: Gary
TE: Brun
LT: Lichtenburg
LG: Tuftee
C: Farniok
RG: Dika OR Williams
RT: Gannon

RE: Irving
LB: Morgan OR Miller
LB: George
LB: Broomfield
LCB: Stokes
FS: Washington
SS: Schaeffer OR Brackens

I don't expect any RS Fr to start at the beginning of the season, it's not Rhoads' style. I could see a possible exceptions at LB and SS, but I think it's more likely that a RS Fr takes over during the season.

Terrible argument. He played for 3 weeks as the starter for Watson. If it were "easy" to transition to the other side then Rhoads would have put the best player on the field. That was Stokes. He had a rough go his first start against OU, but he played fairly solid the rest of the way imo.

It was stated as much I believe that if Reeves was hurt, Richardson or Lynn would've played, not Stokes. Changing position in season is way different than out of season. See Benton and now Broomfield who is moving to LB. There is no chance IMO Stokes starts next year unless he improves drastically. He was absolutely terrible. No closing speed and not a good tackler. Not good at playing the ball.

He runs a 4.5 40 so it can't be that slow. Had 14 tackles against OU. I think you are not giving him as much credit as a guy with 0 D1 experience coming into this year deserves.
Re: Starting 22 for opener next season...maybe a couple of surprises?
I am thinking Willie Scott will end up having a good year for us next year. Seemed like he was a "light just came on" kind of kid this year towards the end of the year. George will be much improved after one more off season. Defense needs leaders and we will have those.
Granted we wont have as good of defense as we did this year, but we have to remember we were pretty salty this year...
Re: Starting 22 for opener next season...maybe a couple of surprises?
Looking for that break-out player like Knott and Klein. My guess is that it will come from our pool of redshirt d-linemen.
Three years ago, almost none of us knew what we had in Knott and Klein.

He doesn't run a 4.5. Maybe a 4.59. And his acceleration was the key. I watched him get torched repeatedly, especially vs OU. 10 yd cushion, receiver catches it and gets 5, and then gets a few more while being tackled poorly or breaking the tackle completely. His reaction time is slow. Richardson played much better as a freshman with no D1 experience so I don't buy that.

Nothing against Stokes but he is a good 2-3 stringer. Go with the great youth we have.
Re: Starting 22 for opener next season...maybe a couple of surprises?
I'd be willing to put money down that Duaron Williams isn't anywhere near the 2 deeps.
Any takers?
Re: Starting 22 for opener next season...maybe a couple of surprises?
Stokes should not be starting in a bcs league. Anyone who watched him play last year would agree. Stats can be deceiving. He was bad.
