Wall Street Journal: How much is your CFB team worth?
Interesting article from the Wall Street Journal on the calculated "value" of top FBS teams as if they were "bought and sold" like pro teams. The Big 12 has 5 in the top 25 with UT at #1. Certain teams are much lower (USC) or higher (Boston College) than I would have guessed. I think you'll be pleased with ISU's ranking. BCS: How Much Is Your College-Football Team Worth? - WSJ.com -
Re: Wall Street Journal: How much is your CFB team worth?
Yet another example of why Louisville and Cincy would be bad pick-ups by the Big 12 if the Big 12 were interested in expansion.

#41 - I'll take that!
Not too far behind schools like Florida State and Stanford and ahead of Kansas and Mizzou!

I have some farmland in Antarctica to sell to whomever purchases Iowa's football program for $384.4 million.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -

The resulting figures represent what the teams might fetch if they could be bought and sold like pro franchises." -

So we're worth about 2 Baylor's?

It's really difficult to envision any rational system or criteria that would cause Iowa's program to be valued above those you mention. Perhaps PSU, because their "market value" might be tainted by the Sandusky scandal. But otherwise...no way.

Michigan went up by reducing debt so given psu liabilities with future. revenue losses from B1g an $100m fine am sure that would affect there worth considerably.

These factors would make a huge impact. The ways that athletic programs relate their finances to the rest of the academic institution vary widely, so comparison is very difficult.
