Re: Jake Knott nearing full health, will work out in Ames
Just an update on this...
Just spoke with Jake. He has been invited to the 2013 NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Feb. 20. He will participate in all events other than bench press.

why not bench press? I figured that would be his strong point...is it due to his shoulder?

Interesting decision to train in Ames rather than going to a training program elsewhere that most prospects do. I hope he knows what he's doing.

Speed. I like it. Jake can go high in the draft if he can tune up that foot speed.

Re: Jake Knott nearing full health, will work out in Ames
Knott working out in Ames will be good for the program because he can be around younger players and recruits.
I recognize that he is probably just talking like a tough, eager player, but when he said, "I feel like I could go play a football game almost," it made me look at the calendar and wonder if he could have played in the Liberty Bowl if the surgery had been done a week or so earlier. I know he probably isn't really ready to play, but that is where my utilitarian mind went. -

I know he probably isn't really ready to play, but that is where my utilitarian mind went. I'm sure someone could (and will) correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if he had no pro career to look forward to there would have been a chance he played in the bowl game. Since he has a future in football, it was better to let him heal and not risk it.
