Two years ago, Houston was 13-1, ranked in the top 20, beat Penn State in a bowl game, and got all kinds of national exposure. They were likely one loss away from a BCS bowl. When is the last time ISU had a season like that? Also, I believe that Houston will be part of the Big East in 2013, which is a BCS conference. And don't forget warm-weather school in an NFL town...

Based on some Twitter speculation, looks like John Leday is putting pressure on Jalen Barnes to switch his commit to Houston. High school teammates.

Houston has a nice football tradition (including an outstanding season two years ago). While certainly nothing earth-shattering, it makes ISU's football tradition look like dog poo. And thus, nobody from ISU really has any ground to call Houston's football program garbage.

let him go to houston. we have very high interest from a couple DBs still who have not commited anywhere. not to mention, having a scholly available in case hodge's WR teammate decides to commit to us would be very nice

I know it's cliche, but Houston (losing record in 2012, no bowl game, 30K fans/game) or a BCS Conference team (ISU: bowl game, 54Kfans, did I mention BCS conference?)? I just don't quite get the logic behind some kids' decisions.

Obviously, each player has to decide individually what is best for him, but it seems like they should hold on their "commitment" until they're truly sure of where they'd like to play. Rivals shows Barnes never visited - if true, wouldn't you think he'd at least want to do that before finalizing a decision?

That is a thing of the past and isn't going to go back...regardless of shoulds and shouldn'ts. It is so common these days to "commit" early to your best offer, play out your season and then see what else comes in. He is no different than hundreds of kids in his position. It will suck if we lose him b/c I can tell you from personal experience that this kid will be good at the next level.

Barnes lives within spitting distance of U of H. He could have asked for coaches to keep his visit confidential. He could have "unofficially" officially visited. Who knows, but I have no doubt that he has visited and been well informed and even embraced by Houston's coaching staff.

Houston has a decent recruiting class for 2013 and will climb back to college football relevance soon. You can't lose a Case Keenum, a Kevin Sumlin and a Kliff Kingsbury all in one fell swoop and not experience the after effects of such an occurrance. For a Texas kid, Houston is a good option...especially if playing in front of family and friends is important to him.

I think he probably doesn't feel compelled to show much tact or worry about burning bridges since his connection to ISU is transferring out. He won't be posting much in a few weeks I suspect.

Are you guys smoking bad weed??? JBH has been on the board since 2006. Hmmm thats 6 years now going on 7. Barnett was here for 3 years including a redshirt and recruited a year before that. So JBH has been here way before Barnett.

Lets not get facts in the way, and get ****** off everytime someone says something you don't agree with. Did I agree with his post?? NO... But I can see his point.
