Once a program starts to gain success on the field and the recruiting gets better other schools start to pay more attention to your recruits and try to steal them. While it is bad when you lose a recruit it is a sign of respect when others want your players. It happens at all schools once winning becomes the normal rather than the exception.
Most teams don't recruit players based on other teams getting commitments from them. What happens is a player commits early then has a good year and more options and makes a different decision. It has little to do with the success of the team the player originally committed to. What it actually shows is that team has a good eye for talent and offered the player before others.
We'll be just fine. The new football facility means a hell of a lot more in terms of recruiting than a bowl loss. Any kid worth his salt believes they're gonna be the one that reverses that trend. So stop the whining.
Walking on water is easy. Just do it in December when it's frozen.
