According to Cyclones.com when Ellis Hobbs played in the 2008 Super Bowl he was the 11th ex Cyclone to play in Super Bowl. Two players that they include are Keith Krepfle and Dan Johnson with Miami. The only two winners were Otto Stowe and Karl Nelson. Marcus Robertson was a member of the Titans in 2000 when they lost, but did not play due to broken ankle.

I'm an Iowa native who bleeds cardinal and gold and now live in Reno (home of Univ. Nevada Reno, "UNR", to non locals "university that's not real". Anyway. The city of Reno is treating Kaepernick like he's the only quarterback that ever played the game. So while I have to listen to all the talk about the "9ers", "pistol", "Kaepernick", and "super bowl" for the next 2 weeks i ask myself....how many Cyclones have WON Super Bowls???
Having lived in Reno myself I assure you that they are completely correct and Kaepernick is the greatest QB in the game right now. (He was #2 better than Rodgers all along but Brady's choke last night bumps Kap up to #1.) I don't think I talked to one person when I have been back in town since he got drafted that didn't predict Kap getting the 9ers to the Super Bowl once they wised up and benched Smith.
He beat Boise!
And...I would say that before Kap the Raiders were probably a little more popular than the 49ers in Reno.
Add Seneca Wallace losing with the Seahawks although he didn't play in the game against Steelers

That's the way I remember it -- 1 play as wide receiver. I remember some people commenting that he would get more money for participating in the superbowl instead of just being part of the team (don't know if that's true, though).
May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

I believe he played and had a 28 yard catch against the Panthers in the NFC Championship that year. I wonder if that is what everyone is remembering. I find no stats for him in the Super Bowl. I suppose he could have been on the field for a play but never saw the ball. I haven't found a participation report for the game.
"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr

I think that is correct. I don't think he played in the Super Bowl and the game you mention is the one he got the catch in.
