    New OL Coach

    Per FootballScoop.com

Iowa State: Sources tell us that former Arkansas offensive line coach Chris Klenakis will join the Iowa State staff as offensive line coach.

I wonder if this means Bill Bliel is moving over to TE's.

I like this hire. Especially the pistol offense part.

That's probably exactly what it means and it will probably be an improvement for both positions.

    Re: New OL Coach

he wrote the book on the Pistol "INSIDE Progression".
    Looks good for us!!

Chris Klenakis, University of Nevada Offensive Coordinator With step-by-step instructions, Coach Klenakis teaches a simple and effective way to install the zone running game out of the Pistol Offense. In 2008, Nevada (inventors of the Pistol Offense) ranked 3rd in the NCAA in rushing offense and 5th in total offense using this system.

The main reason for Nevada's success in running the football is their zone family of plays
    .

Coach Klenakis details the basics of the zone family.
He covers the zone trap, zone read, 2-man and 3-man game.

Klenakis dissects practice footage to teach proper alignment and steps for the offensive linemen.

He highlights a variety of drills to make your job simple when teaching this system to your players.

He includes quarterback and running backs drills for the hand-off and fakes along with how to read the zone play.

Klenakis breaks down game footage to show the finished product in a team setting.

Oh S***, he has already given away all his secrets!
Great, now we are going to have to hear from all the trolls on how JP and CPR are wasting tax-payer money by hiring a coach for six-figures when we could have just printed screenshots of Google Books for the players to read. Two-sided, of course.

    No!
    Reading how is one thing.
Writing how means you designed it, own it , understand it, and can implement it, adapt it, refine it, and best of all make it work.
Mess was running Hermons offense, but didn't own it, he knew it but it didn't flow from him.
This coach designed it, knows it from within, like playing chess, you have to feel the energy of the game and your attack must flow through you to make it work, and extention of the master.

    Ahhhhh, go CYclones!

    Please God install the pistol.
"For the great enemy of truth is very often not the lie -- deliberate, contrived, and dishonest -- but the myth -- persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic. Too often we hold fast to the clichés of our forebears. We subject all facts to a prefabricated set of interpretations. We enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought."

Then we are in big trouble cuz Klenakis doesn't own the pistol either. Chris Ault does and Klenakis was simply an assistant. Just like Mess was with Herman.

Exactly. You have to read the book to become an expert.
