Essentially, don't post that crap on here.

The fact of the matter is, those comments don't help one bit. And they hardly ever add to the enjoyment level for the rest of us even if we could keep recruits from seeing that stuff.

My point was that you're going to find that **** anywhere. It is a black mark, but every program has it.

Re: Time for a change
I think calling out any 18 year old is total b.s. And, saying someone sucks is really a testament to the poster's lack of intelligence because you really aren't saying a damn thing. I also think the posts about firing coaches are short-sighted and without merit. Some people just recently were talking about "fire the TE coach and replace him with..." You know that's someone's livelihood your talking about. Someone with kids and a wife and lives his life just like you but in a public light. Players and coaches alike are trying to win, represent themselves and the university in the best possible way. And yet, it boils down to so little in some people's eyes. Do our coaches hire people that will help them lose games? Recruit kids that give the worst possible chance of winning? Step back and use your ******* head - right? So that's my general feeling on the subject. However, these kids can't be looking to message boards for kittens, baby's breath and dances in meadows. Rhoads should know that. I'm a little surprised that he brought it up.

Personally, I am going to try and encourage negative nancy's on here to take a time out when they start posting garbage. I try not to get personal or attack the player even if I am commenting on a bad game.

BTW I agree with you, but it won't ever happen. Just something these athletes and coaches are going to have to deal with.

the 2% of negative posters have a tendency to dominate the discussion of every recruit. I can't remember the last time that we had a positive conversation about a recruit. Most have been negative. Like the people saying that Knott was going to be a miss, or that Christopherson wasn't a good transfer to pick up. Part of the reason I don't comment too much on recruits - the coaches are the ones who are paid to evaluate the talent and have access to way more information than we do. If it was as easy as looking at Rivals to recruit, you could hire a grad assistant to do it.

Re: Time for a change
I gotta look up the original Tribune commit thread but I'm not sure I want to see what I posted. I have this memory of seeing his hudl profile where he was like 140 lbs and ran a 4.7 and thinking WTF.

They're successful message boards, but we're not like them. It would be very easy for CF to go down that road, but we choose not to. I'm very proud of that. And every good CF poster should be as well. The same choice could be made here, regarding discussion of potential recruits, and as the largest cyclone message board, we would have a real opportunity to make an impact on the fan base's perception. Because, I promise you, the players/recruits are paying attention.
The question I would put to you is this. Why are you okay with ISU fans being just like everyone else? Shouldn't we aspire to be better than that?

At the end of the day the solution is really easy it is the implementation of that solution that is hard.

Exactly. This thread is by far better than HN, where they let the inmates run the asylum. Mostly because posters police themselves most of the time. We can do better. We can take a deep breath and avoid trashing 18 years olds.

If someone tries too, tell them to cut it out. Make Iowa State a place that young athletes want to come to because the fans are supportive and positive. Sure, every athlete that comes here will have flaws, but don't attack them to the point that they will want to go decommit or won't consider Iowa State because of it.

Re: Time for a change
This board is overwhelming positive compared to others I visit. You can't be positive 100 percent of the time.
