Re: BLOG: Initial impressions of Iowa State's offense in 2013
Any news yet on whether CPR plans to incorporate new wrinkles (other than moving Wimberly around the way Thurman Thomas did in the K-Gun, that is) into the offense? Specifically, with the addition of Chris Klenakis, will we be incorporating parts of the Nevada offense into the Tom Herman playbook? What role will Coach K have in determining the offensive gameplan?

Did we ever hear what SJ's knee injury was?

Re: BLOG: Initial impressions of Iowa State's offense in 2013
QB is Sam's for the taking. Rohach there to push/back up in case of injury. Trying to decide between 3 is more difficult than 2, so think the decision making will be easier because of that.
RB will fall along the lines of changes to our offense & adding new OL coach & what wrinkles that will bring. We go more pistol (which is expected, I believe), then I think we'll see White as combo guy (inside & outside runs), Wimberly & Nealy as outside/jet-sweep guys, Woody as primarily inside runner. Think Standard has chance to back up what White brings (in that he'd be a combo guy - inside & outside), but who knows there. Shontrelle is wildcard due to the injury sustained & how he bounces back.
TE: Brun was used more as a big-play threat than security blanket, so I just wonder if Brun & Bibbs would be targeted more often as move-the-chains type guys & if they'll be on the field at the same time.
WR: Would like if J West can get at least 5 completions/touches a game, that would open up a lot for others. Doesn't sound like a lot (5), but JW averaged 2.5 touches (31 Rec, 2 Rushes) last season. Gary, at a minimum, needs to have production similar to what Lenz or Horne provided. Think Q Bundrage started to emerge as potential downfield threat & will he take the next steps further (sure hope so). Think some of the touches the 3 WR we lost (Horne, Lenz, Young) may go to some RBs in the slot (Nealy, Wimberly), but there is still a lot there for the taking. Ecby is intriguing as he has some size (6'0" 202 lbs), so think he will have his shot & the RS-Frosh are all wildcards: Daley, Harris, Q West
OL: Would be great if Dika can make the comeback & be at least a similar performer as Tuftee (if better, great). Then, the tackles will need finalized & it should be settled by Spring ball. Likely Gannon & Litchenberg. Lots of wildcards here as it seems an OL can unknowingly emerge. For me, that OL is Omoile. Maybe he takes over a guard position & Dika comes back 100% & moves to tackle. Spring will answer a lot.

you make the TE position seem like we could be like the NE Patriots with Gronk and Hernadez

Beginning next week, I'll start doing interviews, etc. and getting more information like that.

Contrasted with last year and the (I thought poor decision to) promote Messingham, I am greatly enthused about the direction of the offense and the addition of Coach K at the OL position. I am hopeful that we can break out of the bottom of the Big 12 on offense. We'll need it if we can't replace our defensive stalwarts that graduated.

If the OL can play a little better and with a slightly different scheme, we'll get some better RB production. And maybe the TE's can help develop a passing game -

I feel like Bundrage is getting short changed a little here. I think he will be our clear #1 in the pass game next year and was getting more effective toward the end of the year. I mean, remember that TD against OK St.? That was all I needed to see to know that dude has some skills that we haven't seen in a while.

That's how I see it, if our TE's are athletic enough(I think they are) then why not? It could also help out with blocking in the run game. We would be playing big out of spread sets, I like it.

He is the only returning WR who has shown the potential to be a real difference maker at the position. He made some nice runs after the catch and went up high to grab some deep balls last season.

CPR mentioned on his call-in show late in the year that Duaron Williams might need a 'scope after the season. Any word on that, CW? I fell like he's one guy who could jump into the playing rotation if he's fully healthy.
Looking forward to see how lots of youngsters emerge, as a matter of fact. I like Bundrage, but I think there are at least a couple of other guys who might prove to be just as good as he is!

our TE's are worthless if they can't get the ball, which I fear will be a problem again this year.
