Re: Big 10 to expand.. Again!
The Big 12 is likely to end up with FSU, Miami, Clemson and Louisville...and perhaps 2 more later on as the ACC dismembers. The B1G is going to conduct a raid...and its real goal after UVA/UNC is to pry Notre Dame into their league. Thus Gtech is on the board. Going to 20 is very unlikely for them, and there seems to be no consensus yet to even exceed 16. Of course, events often take on their own momentum so who knows. The SEC want VaTech and NCstate...and no more.

All this comes from SPECULATION from Frank the Tank and Mr. SEC...bloggers. They weren't claiming any inside sources related to FSU, just that they thought it made sense for FSU to join. The only real "leaks" out there supposedly from "insiders" are those relating to UNC/UVA/GT. These same insiders are saying that there are too many B1G schools unwilling to accept FSU for academic reasons...and thus FSU has no chance of getting such an offer. Yep, I don't think the B1G has relaxed their standards regarding membership in the AAU, irrespective of the NU debacle. FSU is not a AAU member and won't get an invite. But they are running out of viable candidates outside the major conferences and in states they don't have a presence yet. UV, UNC, GT, Duke, Tulane and Rice. Thats pretty much it.

Re: Big 10 to expand.. Again!
Am I the only one that thinks the B10, B12, and SEC are in cahoots and secretly carving up the ACC and BEast like they are post-WWII Europe? In the end I don't think any of these schools are going to have much say in where they go as the big boys have already determined their fates and this just needs to play out.

Oh, and I would add ESPN to the list too.

I would rather not any teams from the Big 12 be left behind. Plus, geez, 20-24 teams for a league? This would last what 20 years and then there would be internal bickering for a breakup. The culture of the leagues are different and the distance is so vast. That's why every ISU fan should favor expansion now. If the Big 10 and SEC gobble up the ACC while we sit on our hands at 10 we're left with the scenario you describe down the road.
In that scenario a full out merger would be better for us than a few teams bolting west. What's best for us long term is adding 2-4 teams now to our current 10 from the ACC. Dividing pieces of a pie is worthless to ISU if we're out of the game in a few more moves.

There is also no way West Virginia would be left out.

Re: Big 10 to expand.. Again!
KSU was in a BCS game last year and a top 20 basketball team. Like it or not, they would be "wanted" by anyone.

KSU brings nothing to the table. If the Big 12 and the Pac 12 were to merge and could only take 20 teams, the two to go would be Washington State and Oregon State, IMO.

The culture of the leagues are different and the distance is so vast. The obvious difference being the SWC ceased to exist as a conference when the Big 8 came along to pick up the pieces that they wanted (excluding Baylor, which was forced upon us). Here we're talking about the merger of two intact conferences - I doubt any team gets left behind. More likely they poach the two most attractive MWC teams (like New Mexico and Nevada/UNLV) and go to 24 than anyone getting left out for 20. Not saying I'm cheering for this scenario, just saying what I find more likely.

Re: Big 10 to expand.. Again!
didn't the ACC just come up with a TV deal and add Cuse, Louisville, Pitt, and ND?
