This was a guy who was a redshirt freshman. Hadn't seen a single snap of game experience. And now suddenly everyone is writing it off. Yeah, he had "potential." But how many players have had "potential" that never lived up to it?
I think Aka will be the most likely replacement for Bevins. I think you have Woods and Cousins at NT, with Jensen moving to NT if anyone gets hurt or to spell the others if Coe can come on at DT. At DT, I think you will see Jensen, Aka, Krick, Coe, Garcia there. I would like to see us pick up a JUCO DL if any quality ones are left? I think you'll see us pull a redshirt off Garcia before you see us move Meyers back to DL. Just my opinion. He's already tried to play DT and couldn't gain enough weight and I thought the staff said he'd be more comfy at DE? We are not real deep at DE anyway. Garcia seems to be a tough kid with a big motor on film, though a bit undersized at 277 at this point. He might have to play as a freshman, though no one wants that.

It was already going to be "defensive tackle by committee", much like last year, so there isn't really a whole bunch of "replacing" one player in that rotation.
In some ways, in the immediate future, it'll probably be something of the other players getting a few more snaps, Coe and Irving spending some time at DT, and maybe Mitchell Meyers sliding inside, rather than playing strictly end this season, while he added more pounds.
In the long term, the staff probably ups their priority on defensive tackle recruiting, perhaps even looking for a January enrollee JC transfer. The truth of the matter is, in that instance, Bevins really was a prime example of the old saying, "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush".
