Re: Bo Williams update

why does it seem like Bo is the only smart high star recruit?!? I know I am biased towards the Cyclones, but why wouldn't more people who would ride the pine and/or share the workload at Texas, Florida, Ohio State, etc. type of programs rather come to Iowa State and get a lot more PT, put up better #'s and still play in a BCS conference?

i guess it just might be what i would do in that situation too - if i was a 4 or 5 star recruit I would choose playing time over playing for a team with more potential talent.

I think players are - they just haven't had a reason to come to ISU before Gene and the newfound hope. I think you saw this year with all the upsets that there is a lot of parity in CF and you don't see teams being as deep as you did a few years ago. That's not something I can prove on paper but I think it's a trend that has gone around ISU in the past and is finally starting to include us.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I heard it was too hot in Florida and he wanted to move somewhere where people had to put snow chains on their tires.

Because those 4 and 5 star HS athletes want to play in the spotlight for a big name school. Plust they believe they will be able to walk on campus and compete for playing time right away. Think about it this way. You've always been "the man" on your team through HS. Why would you think you couldn't be "the man" at the college level when everyone is telling you that you are the best player ever.

Re: Bo Williams update

It would really be interesting to know what Chiz and McFarland have said to him regarding offensive sets and potential playing time. Realize that most coaches won't make big promises, but some assurances must have been given to get him to come to Ames-- something more than a permanent reserved booth at that rib joint.

Re: Bo Williams update

One thing that is really going to help cement Bo as a leader and teacher on the team is the fact that he went through a year of strength training and coaching at Florida - one of the most elite programs in the country right now. The players naturally want to listen and learn from what he says because it has a certain special ring to it that other incoming players don't bring in.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Re: Bo Williams update

Anyone (namely 33) know anything about the status of his shoulder? I read a few posts on one of the Gator sites suggesting that his shoulder might not be fully recovered from surgery and may be something that continues to give him problems.

Which is another good reason for the transfer, he get to sit another year to ensure his shoulder doesnt get banged up again. All he says, is that he will be ready to go and is ready to show us what hes made of..

Well, Bo will find out during the next few days if it gets "cool" enough for him.

Union Drive Community Center, it's one of the Dining Centers. It's right by Friley, Helser, Eaton, and Martin.

So since he just transferred in, he has to sit out this season correct?
