jordan decommits

looks like josh jordan backed out of his commitment to ISU... not a big deal, seeing as he would be the 4th best QB on the team behind bates,tiller,and arnaud. looks like only east carolina, louisiana monroe and SE louisiana are the the only schools after him.

Was he the one we were hoping would switch to safety? Must not have liked the idea.

he probably would have become a saftey or wide out, jerome tiller is the better athlete at QB though he may end up a saftey as well

This is starting to concern me, as it's becomming a trend. Looking at Jordan's schools of interest though, it seems to be a desire to stay closer to home and possibly warmer weather. It also seems like his schools of interest aren't ones that we should be competing with anymore.

I would guess competition for playing time would be one of the reasons he is looking elsewhere. We seem to have a long line of solid, young QBs in or coming in to the program right now.

Everything that I have been reading from our employees down in LA is that Jordan is a big loss. He is supposedly being contacted by several southern schools and the names they were hearing down there were Alabama, Clemson and others. I am just going off hearsay from what they are hearing as his high school supposedly is only 15 minutes from where our branch is at.

I don't know if I would call this a trend. This may have been going on for years prior to the micro-analyzing that the internet allows us to do. I'm not sure if there is any benefit knowing what team logo a recruit is doodling on his notebook during study hall. Wouldn't that be viewed as a "soft non-verbal commit"?

I live in Baton Rouge and this kid went to St. Amant HS in Gonzales (a suburb of BR). I saw him play and he has good size and a strong arm. I did not see a whole lot of running ability (speed or quickness) in his game. His stats were out of sight but the team threw nearly every play. The team's record was only 3-8 and they fired the HC after the season. It is my understanding that his dad was an assistant and had contacts on the current ISU staff (apparently his had been an assistant at some college with one of the current ISU assistants). It would not surprise me if we found out his father was getting an assistant job at the school he ends up attending.

Perhaps the trend is that recruiting services are not doing as much research, or are quicker than they used to be about callinga kid committed, or perhaps the trend is that we're backing off on kids purposefully and they're deciding to go in a different direction. Regardless of the reasons, the number of "de-commits" (if they ever really were committed) seems to be much higher than I ever remember, and it seems to be ramping up lately.

Or maybe our coaches are having problems closing the deal as signing day approaches, just being devil's advocate...
