who were the decommits I couldn't remember who was on the list. I'm getting really tired of all the decommits I think that makes 9 or 10 now

Thank you Wes Johnson for the great 2 years you gave Iowa State. Wish you could've stayed. Best of luck to you, wherever you end up.
"The one thing I really want to say is to tell the fans thank you for everything," Johnson said. "You rooted for me, you were behind me with my injury, and I really appreciated that."

Looks as though we will have 9 visitors coming this weekend. Hopefully it will start to look up.

Tracy Robertson - been wavering for a while....
Josh Jordan - if you wanted to play qb, would you come to isu right now - NO, Arnaud, Bates, Tiller= no playin time for Jordan.....Totally understandable.....
But, i hope that with the D coordinator leavin KU that maybe Marshall has at least considered ISU again....he would be a great get.....i know he would be a great asset to our team, and fills a position IMO were weak at right now.
The list: (i'm missin two or three)
Ellington-3*
Marshall-3*
King-3*
Robertson-2*
Jordan-2*
Grant-3*
Graham(Grades)-3*
We have this group on our commit list and we have 11 3* athletes and i would be very happy with that class - as it stands, i hope and pray that we don't end up filling these schollies with players that are "DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH" because those guys can also become practice squad players instead of building blocks on a great program!!!!

The word commitment is starting to sound like a joke more and more everyday. There should be some type of punishment for decommiting like you can't commit to the same conference or something just to make them think it through a little better before hand. But then again, I guess I would think a lot differently if we took a commitment from TAMU this weekend!

These are all VERBAL commitments and it has long been known that they mean nothing until the name is signed on the line.
This stuff has been going on for years and years, we just didn't know about it cuz their weren't recruiting websites telling us every move these kids make.

Our football recruiting class is probably the worst on paper I have seen since the Walden Era and it's not close. Mac's usually looked decent on paper. They just had a hard time playing some and could not stay in school the other.

I don't know where this misconception came from but Graham's decommit had nothing to do with grades and it wasn't a decommit so much as we told him he didn't fit our needs anymore. And that's all I'm going to say about it because I don't know how much has already been spilled over here.

When I was a Sr., I verballed to Buena Vista, then I visited Northwest Missouri State and committed to them. Finally, I decided on Iowa State and signed a letter of intent to come here. Wait, I didn't play sports. This is what high school seniors do, they change their mind based on their needs AND more importantly, the school that offers them the best chance to play and play at a high level.

What coaches did you commit to at those schools? Did you call them afterward?
Wait...not the same thing.

Really you can't fault kids for doing this. It is a huge decision that affects the rest of their lives. Coaches nowadays leave as soon as a better job opening is offered many times, or get fired after just a couple of bad years.
These are young kids who are usually from another state, so there is not a lot of strong loyalties to any particular out-of-state school.

I know it is a huge decision that will effect the rest of there lives and that is why I think most of these kids should think it out a little more than they obviously do. A lot of circumstances I can understand when a kid decommits such as if a coach leaves but what has changed at ISU since these kids committed? If they thought it out since it was such a big decision they should have known what they were getting with ISU.

It's akin to my parents telling me I was free to pursue whatever sport/activity I wanted but once I committed there was no turning back (aka quitting) once I started. Guess that's not the case with most kids anymore for better or worse.

I think one thing to blame is these 'recruiting sites'. These kids are already being called, written, texted by numerous schools and now they have these so call recruiting experts calling them and nagging them too. You think these guys don't want a story? How much pressure do you think they are putting on the kids to 'commit' so they can do a write up?

Yes it is disappointing, however, not isolated to ISU. I would guess there are things going on in the background none of us are privy or should be privy too. If we were, either CR or all of us would be telling the world everything about our recruits. Don't eat and breath this stuff up as you will drive yourself crazy... ...maybe too late.
Z
P.s. Isn't Privy a great word!

I think the funniest decommit had to be in Macs first year when he brought in the best running back from the state of Hawaii for a weekend visit. We were going through a brutal cold snap but with Macs overbearing personallity he got the kid to commit before leaving Ames. When the kid got back to the tropics he called Mac and said I don't think so. I don't think Mac tried to recruit another kid from Hawaii again.
Yes, privy is a good word.
