The fact that some of our "commits" which are really players leaning one way are being lured by other schools, speaks volumes to the quality of recruits we have, and the respect for the players Chizik is recruiting. The safe way is to go after guys no one else wants and they are happy just to come. If we would compete with UNI, South Dakota State,Kent State, UNLV,Stephen Austin and lower level D-1 schools, sure the recruits would stay. But when Kansas, Nebraska, Mizzou and a host of schools want our guys, it should tell you something. And don't forget, BO WILLIAMS COULD HAVE GONE JUST ABOUT ANYWHERE HE WANTED. And he chose Iowa State.

Great post - one which I was gonna write. The talk about Mac's recruits staying is because those recruits were at the "highest" plateau they could reach. They could play for a BCS school (ISU) or either a MAC school, Mountain West, or lower.

We want better recruits, then we'll have to battle with the big boys. We'll win some and lose some. But as the record gets better we'll win a lot more...

I think what will make a huge difference is if the recruits actually stay at ISU for 4-5 years rather than have us lose half the recruits from a signing class for whatever reason.

It also says that some of them might be comming here because nobody else offered them. The ones that were going to come here got offered by someone else and they immediatly took it. So it kind of goes both ways.

Actually, that's not the case in a lot of instances. CR lists all the schools that offered, and in my view, it's pretty impressive. I see how you could think that, but we've been in some pretty hot and heavy company on a lot of them. Tough to stop a Mizzou or Kansas from taking guys after their bowl games. We just have to get there so we can do the stealing.

Im not going to get too hyped up until signing day one way or another. We already have one great player for sure- Williams.
