How far was Iowa State from 6 wins?
In my opinion, three factors kept Iowa State from winning six games this past season: 1. Meyer Interceptions 2. Field goals and kickoff problems3. New system integration
With three wins, we only needed three more to go bowling. Kent State 23-14 Loss (three turnovers cost Iowa State the game) UNI 24-13 Loss (turnovers, 4-0 against Iowa State) Toledo 36-35 loss (what can you say, found a way to lose, had game won) Nebraska 37-17 Loss (we were at that game, Iowa State had all the momentum at the two yard line going in for a score, Meyer threw an interception that went 90plus yards for a TD. That turned the game)
So four winable games for Iowa State. Kent State and Toledo should have been sure wins, the other two, you pickum.
WE LOST THE EASIEST GAMES ON OUR SCHEDULE.....

Which is why I think we won't have TOO much trouble getting six wins next year. I think 6-7 wins next year is a pretty good bet.

Just to think that if we won the three game we were supposed to win at the beginning of the season and we are playing in a bowl game is painful.

Coulda Woulda Shoulda. We should have beat OU, and taken them out of the BCS, but it did not happen. I had fun watching this team grow, that is something new for me at ISU, so I look back at this season as one of the most fun seasons I had as a fan. Plus there were some great tailgates this year.

I agree. We also went to Mizzou and Neb. games and tailgated and had a blast! We aren't that far from .500

I agree about the tailgating. We had the worst record since I've been in school here, but tailgating more than made up for it!

I think also we saw a lot of growing pains and learned from them. I think the fan base grew together as a whole as well. We showed that the fan base will stick around through thick and thin.

I've been tailgating at Iowa State for 4 years and running (and I will never stop)...and this year was THE BEST tailgating. period. even with freezing my balls off at 4:30 in line and still drinking cold beer. I just HATE the fact there are only 6 times I get to do it this year. Just wish I could do it every other weekend all year long! Long Live Cyclone football and Cyclone tailgating!

Weren't you here in 2004? We grew all year that year as well. In fact, it pretty much paralleled our 2007 season with improved play throughout the Big 12 followed by a clunker in the finale.

We were about 3 wins away from 6 wins. 9 wins away from a perfect regular season and a chance to play Ohio State in the National Championship game
