RECEIVERS!!!
Is anybody else excited about the crop of receivers we will have this fall??? I thought this area was in trouble after Graham was unable to enroll. Sumrall, Hamilton, Carlson, Darks, S. Johnson, Range, Messiah, W. Franklin. Granted Darks may switch to the other side of the ball and Range will redshirt coming off a knee injury but the receiving corps is stacked.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
It may be a good thing we didn't get Graham... If Graham had qualified, would we have received a commitment from Sedrick Johnson??

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
Outside of Hamilton and Sumrall, it's stacked with potential.
I like the guys we have there, I expect Hamilton to continue to get better - absolutely love this guy. I hope Sumrall will become more consistent in his senior season as we're going to need that out of him.
Other than that, it's a bunch of guys that have very little to no playing time that will be competing for spots and a chance to show what they can do. I do love the competition we have at this position and a number of others - very refreshing.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
For some reason Iowa State has had a stable of solid receivers for a long time now. This is a great advantage because it allows us to redshirt them, see Todd Blythe.
Now if we could just get the same quality in the Oline, and the guys throwing them the ball.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
I agree, with the exception of Hamilton and Sumerall (who's production really dropped off the second half the season) we're going to need somebody like Carlson or Sedrick Johnson to really step up.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
Did Derron Montgomery dress last fall for games? I know he had a knee injury in the spring but was unsure if he was healthy by fall.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
Might see some Bates in that group as well.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
True, Bates may be our 3rd WR for a while or permanently.
I'm not trying to hate on RJ, but it would not shock me to see him unseated from that #2 spot down to #3-4 if some of these other guys progress nicely.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
Not to be a Debbie Downer, but as much as I love our WR skill and depth, I'm still concerned about our line giving QBs enough time to get it to them.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
Add Houston Jones and Derron Montgomery to that list. Montgomery has suffered from injuries in the past so hopefully he can stay healthy this year and contribute somewhere.
I'm not sure if these two will see much playing time, but I'd say they have potential

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
I think our TE's may have the ability to stretch the field this year. Derrick Catlett and Collin Franklin... Also, one of our incoming freshman could have a major impact on this position.
I personally think we will see a major upgrade over last year...

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
Really what i was most excited about was our 2 TE recruits who both of them are like 6"6 and like 200+? Isn't that right?

Luckily, the new coaching staff understands that you don't have to get 5 seconds of protection to throw the ball, you can move the pocket and run quick patterns.

Re: RECEIVERS!!!
I'll be disappointed if our Offense can't avg. 20+ pts. per game this year. Would like to see us ring up 50 against someone....just once instead of having it done to us.
