Re: Favorite Iowa State Wins

We can't forget the win in MBB vs #2 rated Oklahoma State... I have season tickets and have been to many games with that one being the loudest I've ever attended

3. 2005 vs. Texas A&M. Best road trip of my life. Not to mention we kicked their ***.

4. 2004 vs. Kansas State. Best fourth quarter comeback I've ever seen. Gave me the first scent of what a division championship MIGHT taste like.

5. 2002 vs. Iowa. Surprised this isn't higher? So am I.

6. 2000 vs. Oklahoma State. I will never forget listening to Pete Taylor's call on the Rosenfels to Danielson post pattern for the win. Very nice farther son bonding around an open pickup and a roaring fire ;)

7. 1996 vs. Missouri. I was a youngin, but I rember my dad telling me that "You might never hear of a running back having a game like that again in your lifetime"

8. 2002 vs. Nebraska. "You know what Eric, this may not be the Nebraska of old, but it's certainly the Cyclones of new."

9. 2002 vs. Texas Tech. The Run. Hell of a wollup by Wagner.

10. 2001 vs. Kansas. Tony Yelk's pull-back that went for 48 yards. McCarney smoked the school that fired Terry Allen.

Now, I am fairly young, and I lived out of state for nearly half of my life, so I am limited to my Cyclone memories. I'm interested in what everybody else's favorite Cyclone football WINS are. And no, Florida State doesn't count, even though it should .

I'd like to give a shout out to the voice of the Cyclones, Pete Taylor.

I'd also like to do my semi-annual link to CyclonesCentral.com :: Sounds

I wish somebody would pick up in his absence and do some sound or video tracks of some more recent Cyclone games. I know a guy over at hawkeye report does it, I don't see why nobody over here doesn't.

The game in 1999-2000 when Fizer blocked Mihm? That was a great bball game.

Another one was during the sweet16 in 96-97 season when Cato took Battie from TT to school in Hilton. You know, back when students had parquet seats right behind the bench and could yell obesenities as much as they wanted. We gave Battie so much *** he gave us a nice gesture after he fouled out.

That was a blast!!! I remember meeting the team outside JTS when they got back and then driving around the Welch area with our cannon on the trailer and showing off my **** IOWA t-shirt.

How am I supposed to think outside the box when I work in a cube?

02 win against Nebraska. Sennaca Wallace and Enis Haywood at their best. Sennaca was lightning in a bottle and I've never seen as quick a quarterback since.
I do not believe Haywood was part of that team.

Man I can remember the 2005 A&M game at A&M where Blythe made a play in the corner where he jumped like 2 stories in the air and the cornerback fell flat on his back and the look Blythe gave him when he landed..........Ohhhhh priceless :-)

The Pride of Iowa State...

Re: Favorite Iowa State Wins

I pretty much agree with your list. I might add 2005 vs Iowa too - I think they were ranked 8th. The 98 win over Iowa was something else. I think I still have a plastic baggy with some grass from the field that day stored around the house. That's a memorable week for me. I was a huge fan of Mark McGwire and he had broke the home run record just four days earlier. It was my senior year of college so I was about to leave the "greatest years of your life" phase. I looked at my buddy and told him I may as well throw myself off the stadium because life can only go downhill from here :)

I remember running up to the vet building, since it was made of concrete. That was the game where they had $10 endzone tickets and I was in the front row. That was a great game.
I was also at the TT game when Seneca had "the run". I still have some pictures I took of it. it was awesome.

Re: Favorite Iowa State Wins

1. It has to be the 92 win over Nebraska. That was one of the biggest upset ever. We started a 5 year QB that I don't think played a snap and he ran the option on Nebraska all day long. The beat part was half the lineman could out run this guy.
2. The insight.com bowl
3. 98 iowa
4. 02 iowa
5. 02 TT the run
6. 93 KSU game was a good one too.
I was at the 00 ISU - iowa game that is one of my favorit one too. JJ end around was awsome.
basketball
1. the OSU game loudest I have ever been to in hilton
2. Lafester's 56pt. win over iowa
3. 99-00 texas game

Re: Favorite Iowa State Wins

I'd have to say the 2005 iowa game where iowa state won 23-3. Remember when deandre Jackson picked off drew Tate and Tate tried tackling Jackson and Tate got a concussion. Now I might say that's number two. I was at that game. I also loved going to the 2005 isu Colorado game it was so windy. It was crazy with all the tornadoes. And Steve paris returns the fumble 60 some yards for the touchdown the on colorados next series brent big play curvey intercepts a pass and outruns hugh Charles to the endzone. I cant wait for isu to get more great moments like that again

Thank you for beating Iowa

Re: Favorite Iowa State Wins

For me in no particular order:

'92 Nebraska- Marv Seiler slo-moin' the kNebraska D
'02 Iowa- Great story about this. We used to have a guy at work who was a typical hawk fan (didn't go to school there) and he came in and was telling all of us ISU people "F'in' clones! They ain't any good." And we are all asking him what was the score of the game and the only reply he had was, "Well we were up by 17 at half-time." Priceless.
2000 Insight Bowl
'98 Iowa- The streak buster
'02 Nebraska
'02 Texas Tech
'00 Oklahoma State- Lane Danielson streaking downfeild for the game winning TD with :05 left
'05 Iowa
'05 Colorado- The tornado game. And Brent "Touchdown" Curvey rumblin', bumblin', stumblin' all the way the game winner.
'96 Missouri- Troy Davis runs wild

Basketball
'92 Oklahoma State- The LOUDEST I ever heard Hilton
'87 Iowa- LaFester goes nuts against Iowa
'83 Missouri- Barry Stevens drops 40 and Hilton Magic is born
'00 Texas & Oklahoma State- Beating the two teams we were sharing the conference lead in one week.
2000 Big XII Tournament- The best week I ever spent in Kansas City!
The final Big 8 Tournament- I remember driving down to KC the morning of the game and buying tickets outside Kemper.

That game was actually 2000. December 28th, 2000 to be exact. I know precisely, because I was in the emergency waiting room, not knowing if my oldest daughter was going to survive the surgery she was undergoing. She had her skull fractured, and part of it cut off, in a bad car accident earlier in the day, and they flew in a guy who specialized in child brain surgery to try to save her.

JaMaine Billups ran back that punt return about 10 minutes after the Neurosurgeon came to tell us our little girl was going to live, and would probably be okay, brain function-wise.

My wife, her parents, and I were sitting there, before that, watching the game with intense fascination. It sounds weird, but we all looked at each other, and agreed that the game was helping us make it through that time, not knowing and all that.

She is now 17, going on 18 in a few months and will graduate from high school, probably on the honor roll and is scheduled to attend Iowa State.

And, yeah, I'd have to say that that was my most memorable ISU football game, ever.
