What is a grayshirt?

I heard that Ethan Tuftee might grayshirt and go to a JUCO school. Can anybody explain how a grayshirt works and what goes on?

They either go to another school or don't attend school at all for the first semester as not to use up their 4 in 5.

Re: What is a grayshirt?

They either attend a JUCO for a semester/year (don't play football there) or will enroll at ISU but not as a full-time student--they'll take less than 12 credits. The 5 year time clock doesn't start until a student is enrolled full time. It gives them time to rehab a previous injury, bulk up in a weightroom, etc., while still taking some classes but not counting against their eligibility.

Re: What is a grayshirt?

Sometimes, like at K-State, there are too many kids committed to a school & not enough scholarships. If that happens a kid can grayshirt and be promised a scholarship the following year.....provided he does the proper enrollment (or lack thereof) discussed above.

Re: What is a grayshirt?

Simple answer is they can enroll at any college/university but must maintain less than a fulltime courseload. This enables their 'clock' to pause for a semester...

Re: What is a grayshirt?

With the way Prince has been treating recruits recently, is there any way for him to screw over someone who agrees to grayshirt by simply not giving them a scholarship the next year?

have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.

So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough?

I have one on right now. It's about halfway between and black shirt and a white shirt. I kid, I kid.....

Usually the student-athlete can sign a grant-in-aid form that specifies the date for the scholarship.
