This will be another test of the NCAA of big school budget vs. small school budget.

Honestly I feel bad for this kid - he's getting jacked around by family and it's apparently on display for everyone. Nothing is more important than family.
If A&M has an LOI, that means that Sedrick had to sign that one as well. Let the kid do what he has to do.

I'm curious to see where Sedrick stands on this one. He could sure clear up a lot by saying something.
But I doubt we will hear anything from him until everything has shaken out, because that gives him a better chance of not getting burned by this.

You can decide to go to war when your 18 but you have to be 21 to decide what college to go to for football without your parents? Why doesn't that seem right? That must be a new rule then... I signed three letters of intent, one when I was 18 and two when I was 20. My parents didn't sign any of them...

NO DOUBT, that was the thought going through my mind....i can see it right now, some pompous oil dork from a&m calling a friend to have lunch who happens to be on the NCAA oversight committee and explains how the child sent in the LOI without his parents signatures and that it should be ruled the Iowa State LOI is not valid...
I really feel bad for Sedrick, i think his heart is at ISU and he felt most comfortable about getting on the field and making it happen right away. Where as his selfish parents like any parents want him close, sooner or later they have to realize that they should just want whats best for the child, and like another poster mentioned "I think its ridiculous that an 18 year old can sign his or her name to go to our armed forces (i did) serve their time possibly go to war (i did) and yet, its a bigger more difficult decision to go to a College to play a sport". I don't get it......I think forcing the parent to be involved actually opens up the POTENTIAL for payoffs and kickbacks you hear so much about (See Reggie Bush).....Now if its a matter of financial aid etc and the parents are liable, now thats a different matter. In this case, the kids go to school, have very little expenses and enjoy the college life....why does the parent have to agree with where the child wants to go to school.....thats the most idiotic thing i've ever heard....this rule needs to be changed...... | | |

Best of luck Sedrick .... we would have loved to have seen you in Cardinal & Gold. If A&M is in the picture or where you have to go, please make the best of it, no matter the situation.

What do you guys think made him switch his committment from A&M to ISU on signing day?
I think the general concensus is the same for Ags as it is for the more rational ISU fans. We don't want him unless "he" wants to be at our school. You don't want him unless "he" wants to be at your school.
All we know now is that he wanted to be at A&M, then he signed a LOI with ISU (valid or invalid...I don't know) and now he has signed a LOI with A&M (valid or invalid...I don't know).
I hope the kid hasn't screwed himself no matter which school he ends up at.
Just my guess, this is more about his parents fighting over him than what is good for him. I hope he ends up where "he" needs to be.

T We are in "wait and see" mode here. We'd obviously love to have him, but most of us know we're dealing with complicated family matters and an 18 year old kid, so whatever is best for him is best for us.

Honestly, my guess is that SJ did the last minute signing to ISU because that's where he wanted to go. The reason it was a surprise was because he knew his mother wanted something different and had to work with his father to actually get what he wanted. He let her, and aTm believe that's where he was heading, knowing that she wouldn't be accepting of his desire to attend out of state. He probably thought (as most of us thought) that it would be a done deal once the LOI was in and she'd have to be ok with it. That's just my theory though.

T I agree, but if he wanted to be at A&M all along, why did he sign with us in the first place. It seems to me it is clear that Sed wants to be at ISU, and mommy wants him at A&M.

The way I understand it, the document only has to be signed by a parent, or legal guardian if a parent is present. Because the dad is still a 'parent' it doesn't matter who the guardian is...
