The presser was to announce the addition of Sedrick to the 2008 class. It was canceled when the NCAA ruled in favor of Iowa State.

IF they held a presser on SJ it would violate NCAA rules for tampering on a commited player. Maybe Sherman is the new Kalvin Sampson of the Big 12!

Arp coaches comments are interesting and a bit contradictory to what has been reported about his preference of where SJ plays.

I said his HS coach's comments...not SJ. It was being reported that his HS coach was really pushing A&M and in this article he played an even keel.

I am not sure that they did. At least not knowingly. They thought this was his LOI, so they announced it. Had the shoe been on the other foot, ISU would have probably done the same.

That's certainly the line they will toe, however, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that they weren't aware that Sed had signed with ISU on signing day. It's not like they just ignore the fact that a 4 star recruit didn't sign his LOI on signing day and waited until a few days later to send it in. Were I A&M, I would probably have tried to figure out what was going on, if he was expected to sign. I'm assuming the answer they would have gotten back was that "he signed with ISU". At that point, if they had any contact with him it would probably be a violation. If somehow an LOI just showed up without any contact, they are probably in the clear.

Most of the "noise" about all this seems to have come from fans, not from the university, so it probably is highly likely that A&M was covering their butts pretty well on this.

If the NCAA is interested in pursuing it, I suspect they could find some wrongdoing there. Proving it, however, would probably be very difficult. Then again, the NCAA doesn't always seem to need a smoking gun, if they so choose.
