Sed Johnson: It's being reviewed by NCAA

Football: ISU standout recruit's future becomes uncertain | DesMoinesRegister.com | The Des Moines Register

By ANDREW LOGUE • REGISTER STAFF WRITER • February 15, 2008

The football future of Sedrick Johnson, who signed with Iowa State, is in limbo, pending a decision by NCAA officials.

Johnson, a four-star receiver from Arp, Texas, sent a letter of intent to Iowa State on national signing day Feb. 6. But he then sent another letter to Texas A&M on Thursday.

According to Johnson’s high school coach, the difference in the letters is that his father, Sedrick Sr., signed the first, and his mother, Della, signed the second.

“It’s before the NCAA right now,” coach Dale Irwin told the Des Moines Register in a telephone interview. “I’ve been instructed not to say a word.”

When the Des Moines Register asked to speak with Johnson, Irwin said the family is not taking calls.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound Johnson was perhaps the Cyclones’ most touted recruit. He also drew interest from Florida, Louisiana State and Nebraska, among others.

That's great news. We've had such _good_ luck with the NCAA lately...

and his mother, Della, signed the second.
I don't like how that reads. It could one of a couple of things. And most will have consequences.

How old is this story? There's a date but no time stamp that I can see. Is the information that has been posted in other threads newer than this story?

In any case, some have mentioned there could be a penalty for Sedrick sending in two LOI's. Can't wait for that decision...

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFf GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I hope they are looking at A&M not at ISU. I hope they say he can come to ISU no questions asked.

Maybe the Reg is just a day behind. Lets not forget it is the same paper that had a big story on KU basetball and nothing on ISU today.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Re: Sed Johnson: It's being reviewed by NCAA

The NCAA has ruled that the ISU letter of intent was valid.
The Arp media has stated that A&M has cancelled their press conference this afternoon. Arp media has also said the NCAA is telling A&M to cut off contact with the Johnson family.

DMRag article is less then current based off the links that have been posted on the different SJ threads which tells me this is not up to date.

And, yes part of my argument is trying to make the point to myself as much is it is my fellow Cyclones.

Question for the day: Can I still make season tickets work for FB and MBB if I move to Canada?

That link makes it sound like SJ had a change of heart and wanted to be an Aggie. Please let that not be correct. I am hoping that is Aggie homerism skewing the facts.

In light of Texas A&M's massive failure to assimilate Mr. Johnson, I'd like to direct their fans to the failblog. Eat your hearts out aggies.

Do we have any idea if he even wants to come here? In the end, that is probably all the really matters.
