09 Early Recruiting Prospects
Interesting to see on Rivals that Chizik offered three of Scott Haughton's teammates (love the work Paul does--and no, I'm not a subscriber). If you sort through the database, you find a defensive end (Dye) who looks perfect for the need, a rangy 6-4 218 safety/linebacker (Armstrong) who would be awesome, and an athlete (Debose) that runs a 4.43. Isn't Seminole Chizik's alma mater?
Envy you guys with access to the whole tamale.
Also noticed that James Carpenter, an '07 signee, is at Coffeyville (and even bigger) and was pleased to see that he has ISU rated high. I know Mac didn't have a history of taking jucos that had been "placed", but maybe that'll change with GC.
Lots of other interesting tidbits in the database as well. Nice job, Paul. -

Most Big 12 schools are knee deep into 09 already.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

Well. it's interesting to see that we're in on some good ones. Not that I'm exactly counting on those three, but it's a good starting point. Especially with three that seem to fit the needs so perfectly.

Chizik is from Clearwater, which is on the Gulf Coast near Tampa. Leonard Johnson is from Largo, which is in the same area. Seminole High School where Haughton played is in Sanford, which is over by Orlando.

Mining this school for more talent would be awesome.

Re: 09 Early Recruiting Prospects
Hopefully, we can pull the same coup that Oklahoma St did when they recruited three Stud JC's from Eldorado....and got all three, Johnson 4* RB, Miller 4* DT, and Gray 4* DB.....thats an influx of talent...
For us, to have someone committed to ISU and now be offering these three, thats huge.....i don't like to see Florida, Florida St. and every other awesome BCS school i think that may lower our chances, but, speaks volumes to our judging of talent. Hopefully, Haughton's in the ear of all three saying lets go up there and play, not sittin on the bench stuff!!!!!
I hope Carpenter is still high on Chizik and company. He would be a great gift considering what happened to us on multiple line prospects this year. If he were to be available and we got him back after his one year in jucos....What or how does the rule stand with JUCOS can he finish out his Freshman season and then get a scholarship by a 4 yr school after his transcripts are available? Do we have a schollie to give him? Did we hold that schollie last year that was to be spent on him - how does that work?
Thanks,
K

Mining this school for more talent would be awesome. There are two Seminole High schools in Florida, one by Clearwater and another near Sanford. Both are pretty good at baseball but the one by Sanford is really good, I know a former ISU assistant went there to be head coach in 2000. That's where Cory Patterson, Tim Raines Jr. and some other good players played. Clearwater Seminole is where Ben Kozlowski, Casey Kotcham and another first rounder (can't remember) went...

Ah, thus the confusion. I knew that GC coached at the one...
He started coaching as a defensive coordinator (1986-88) in his home state at Seminole High School in St. Petersburg, Fla.
...so I assumed it was his alma mater. And that there was only one Seminole HS.
Still, it appears that both of them are talent producers. I suspect we'll see the ties broaden as the years progress.
Back to the '09 prospects, it's still early, but there are some interesting offensive linemen listed in the database. Obviously an area of focus.
