Derron Montgomery Prepping for Outdoor Season, Credits Seneca Wallace
AMES, Iowa – Not many athletes return to their full potential after an ACL injury. Iowa State track and field member Derron Montgomery recovered from two. The sprinter and wide receiver is now showcasing his speed on the track and working hard to return to his full potential by the time football season rolls around. More... -

5th place at the Big 12 championships and expects to do better in outdoor - nice. I haven't heard much about him since he signed, but with that kind of speed he should be a weapon if he stays healthy.
have you ever got caught outside In a strong rainfall? Yes or NO. If it"s yes, then you might half felt the pane of hard(tought) rain on you head. If it hurt"s then it"s tough. Yes or no. Okay I'm right and you know it.
So alothough you attempt"ed to say you didn"t understnad, now you do. Fair enough? -
Re: Derron Montgomery Prepping for Outdoor Season
“The second time was March 30, 2007, we were playing spring ball. I was running down the field and both times I never got hit, my cleat just got caught in the turf and I changed directions and my knee snapped.”
I was at practice when he tore his ACL the 2nd time. Saw him do it - wasn't pretty.
The look on his face as he was on the sidelines in the Bergstrom facility was even worse.
I hope he continues to make a great recovery and can have an impact for us!
Montgomery recalls the days he used to watch Seneca Wallace play for the Cyclones.
“I first heard about Iowa State a long time ago. I used to watch Seneca Wallace all the time, I hadn’t heard much about Iowa State before him and that’s how I became interested,” Montgomery said.
Thank you, Mr. Wallace!

ACL and MCL injuries are super hard injuries to come back to 100% from...I hope Derron has a GREAT 2008 for I-State.

They certainly are. I think it's pretty nifty the way he's come back from them and been able to perform at a high level - at least on the track field so far. Hope it translates to the FB field this fall - we could use that speed.

how many years of eligibility does he have for football?

Re: Derron Montgomery story . . .
ACLs suck... I blew my first one out on the 2nd day of 8th grade basketball and the 2nd ACL in my 3rd year of college playing racquetball. Your knee just buckles out from under you and you more or less faceplant. I hope Montgomery's recovery continues to go well.

Three more years of eligibility--unless he appeals for a medical hardship (after his senior season).
Will he be running track, or in cleats for Spring drills?
Wilbert Montgomery's son--I remember how explosive he was in the backfield with the Eagles.
Just curious--I saw that Iowa's Ferentz mentioned that one of his signees (Greg Castillo) was the son of a former Eagle, who had been a great at Texas A&I. Since I doubt that A&I has had that many greats make a splash in the NFL (or with the Eagles), are these two kids half brothers or something?
